Yes both ways was via Medha road, because I felt going all the way to Wai and then onto Mahabaleshwar via Panchgani would mean extra distance. But I have to admit that its a fabulous stretch especially as you see the entire valley from Panchgani plateau while climbing up to Mahabaleshwar from Panchgani. Have been on this road quite a few times but had to skip this time as I had reached Mahabaleshwar late and also left very early.
