... is so horribly cliched its not funny. Most safari owners (just taking your quote as an example) claim the same. However, while it may be driven rougher than a hatchback (I have done the same on my swift including doing inclines like Jalori 4up fully loaded, or the 30km of no road for parashar) - the correct measure is to compare whether in this (hypothetically unbelievably rough use) type of usage, would a Scorpio or a Tavera have crumbled.
I can give everyone the answer: NO!
There are enough sumos, taveras and scorpios which do the leh route happily.
Safari is awesome, but the quote in bold is more perception than reality!
