That whine was enough to announce a fuel pump fault. Switch off and let the pump cool off a little, and it would start working again. A few km, and it would fail due to overheating. That seemed fine, and I was carrying an 80k km/4yr warranty, so I was not too concerned. Set off to the workshop, and had the car back in an hour or so with a new pump. Did you check for dirt in the tank? Service advisor: Your tank is absolutely clean, Sir.
And three days later, the same whine from the rear and the engine died on me again. Second trip to HMP Mathura Road...
