Re the Qualis comment:
Yes, Toyota gave us an antiquated vehicle. But it also showed us what Jap reliability is all about. Every. Single. Owner I've talked to had nothing but stories of happiness and satisfaction to give. How many manufacturers can boast that kind of customer satisfaction? Not even Honda.
The Jetta is a Laura with a 5L premium on it. Not very surprised on how unreliable they turn out to be. If Skodas are renowned worldwide for being the most reliable in the VAG family, we can imagine how the rest of the group is.
Engine oil comes under consumables, which isn't covered by warranty or free service umbrella. Trust me, everyone pays for their first oil change, be it an M800 owner or someone driving around in a D segmenter. The only warranty I know of which covers consumables and breakdown service is BMW's highest end Secure series.
You mention magnetic engine oil. Do you mean Castrol Magnatec? If yes, it could be fully synthetic depending on the grade. 5W-30A1 is fully synthetic and the rest are semi-synth.
