my view of a smartphone is
1. easy to use.
2. open platform.
3. loads of applications (free applications is a bonus)
4. support for advanced features like wi-fi,GPS,stereo BT, advanced audio player,good mp camera etc
additional bonus would be
1. longer battery life should be great
2. it should be small in size and light in weight.
3. can be operated by one hand.
4. doesnt crash from time to time.
