most of the places you mention are in Uttaranchal (except Srinagar and Amranath). I am a new convert to low-cost touring by bus and Uttaranchal i feel is a great place to explore by bus.
The places you mentioned are roughly arranged in the form of a Y, and Karnaprayag is roughly at the centre of this Y and so is a great place to base your adventures out of. Ranikhet could be an additional point of interest further of Karnaprayag. Each leg of this trip can be done in 1 day: thus 4 days. One additional option is to Take a bus from karnaprayag to a place called Harsil and from there trek to Kedarnath (1 day) and from Kedarnath to Joshimath on the other side (another day). From Joshimath, you can make your way down back to Karnaprayag stopping for darshan at the innumerable temple towns enroute: Gopeshwar, Rudraprayag etc ending back at Karnaprayag on day 3.
Similarly you can explore the northeast Uttaranchal (dharchula, pithoragarh etc) using Almora as a base: again 3/4 days.
Exploring Ladakh by bus is an interesting option:there are bus services from Kargil to Padum in the Zanskar valley and from Leh to Korzok which opens up interesting possibilities for the enthu backpacker!
