Well it wasn't exactly a race but was a real nice experience or me yesterday while returning home from office. There's this 12 km stretch of 3 lane 'expressway' which is more or less smooth .. although a far cry from the golden quadrilateral concrete roads.
Yesterday evening 7:30pm when I was entering the road, there was this Tucson in front. I was admiring it's looks .. looks quite good from the rear. It was being driven quite zestfully. Now I generally step on the throttle a bit on this stretch and hence tried getting past it. Shifted to the middle lane (it was on the right), and lo there was this huge dark blue thing in front of it. Almost dwarfing the Tucson and as I was accelerating, it took off like a bullet !
My first instinct was Cayenne !!! But there was an external mounted 10 spoke spare wheel at the rear, hence couldn't read the name. Now it got to me. I HAD to identify it 100%. Told wifey to hang on and I stepped on it. 120kmph and he was still pulling away, 1/2 km ahead. There are 2 90 degree turns on this road. At the first turn I was still around 1/2 km behind. Realised that the Tucson as well as an Alto had started chasing the Porsche.
After the turn I think I hit 5000rpm + (was busy looking ahead to keep it's tail lamps in sight). Glanced down once to note 140+kmph in 4th. I was slowly closing the gap. Kept it in 4th. Did not shift to 5th. Tucson and Alto were now nowhere in the picture. Took the second turn 100mts behind the behemoth. It was in the middle lane. I floored in on the right lane and crossed it .. glanced at the rear view .. beautiful bi-xenons and that unmistakable snarling face. Had noticed the quadruple exhausts earlier. Identity confirmed. Porsche Cayenne Turbo (not sure if it was the S) .. but at least 450BHP , 0 to 100 in 5.6s !!
Maintained 130kmph till the end of the expressway and let it pass (magnanimous me

)
Average 130kmph for 7 to 8 minutes. Hair raising driving for me .. a stroll in the park for him !
Wifey was adamant ... she still maintains .. bottomline, we beat a Cayenne !
