Default Cartist (automotive art) @ Auto Expo 2018

This was a stall I stumbled upon while navigating to some other place in Auto Expo and was really happy to discover it. The stall was Cartist and is an attempt by a person based out of Jaipur to bring Automobiles & Art together. He is trying to blend automobiles, art, sculpture together using local artists and after spending time at the stall, must say that his attempt at the same looks very promising.

The stall entry with vibrantly painted shipping containers and shells/Nano parked on top.

As you enter, on the right you see these beautiful art pieces:

On left you have these:

I had a chat with the person behind the stall (he's a Team-BHPian) and key points that came up were:
  • Started of as a personal passion
  • Did a 10 city Cartist Yatra sometime back to promote this concept.
  • All work done is by local artists from various cities. He claimed that all of them are very talented and this gives them a way to express their talent
  • Not much commercial angle till now but would like to start one so that this becomes sustainable
  • Finding it tough to get space to store the ever expanding art works. Hence more compulsion to offer these art-works commercially and keep some churn
  • Several office spaces have expressed interest in commissioning the works/artists to make car-art for their office spaces
  • This being such a niche area, is at cross-roads on how to market and create awareness. His forte is creating art but not marketing art.

Several car-art models using wires were there.

Lovely looking Beetle:

The E-Type Jaguar. Was told that this has been bought by a collector who has this car in real :-)

Guess which is this one?

I feel that these wire made car-art models are perfect for office spaces and will make wonderful objects kept in the lobby - unique & different from the usual art works found in offices.

Not just cars/scooters, even shipping containers can be transformed into works of art.

This is an artist take on a chariot:

Details about the concept & the artist:

Small containers with blank car models ready for painting:

A local artist at work inside the container:
Cartist (automotive art) @ Auto Expo 2018-containerinside.jpg

They had an area where local artists/visitors could paint in canvas and express themselves.
Cartist (automotive art) @ Auto Expo 2018-paintone.jpg

Even the painting area/objects had stuff made from recycled automotive parts:

The stall had a section where furniture made from automotive parts was displayed.

A view of a living room with automotive themed furniture:

A table made from tools/automotive parts. Very nicely done:

Another table made from a Nissan engine block and related parts:
Cartist (automotive art) @ Auto Expo 2018-furtable.jpg

A newspaper/magazine rack made fro oil sump:

Stool:

Sidetable:
Cartist (automotive art) @ Auto Expo 2018-fursidetable.jpg

Lamp & clocks:
Cartist (automotive art) @ Auto Expo 2018-furlamp.jpg

Clocks:
Cartist (automotive art) @ Auto Expo 2018-furclocks.jpg

Trophy mantle-piece:
Cartist (automotive art) @ Auto Expo 2018-mantle.jpg

Must say that most of the stuff was nicely done with due emphasis on quality, workmanship, design & functionality.

All-in-all a very happy experience and time well spent on this stall. Loved covering it.

Looks like a Shelby Cobra but I could be mistaken. What’s the asking rate for these

Thanks Bro for sharing this with us.
Truly inspiring display of motor-art.
If I had the money, I would grab every one of their display items. For the crankshaft side table, I would pay good money. Wising the very best to the Cartist team to succeed big time!!!

Request to Mods and OP:
could you please tag the bhp-ian behind this team? It will help him to make contact with other like minded Bhp-ians who can guide him in marketing the art.
Cheers,
D.

I received some of these item's photographs in a WhatsApp group as forwards. I enquired around but no one was aware of the source of these items. Thanks to Team- BHP's coverage of Cartist's Stall at Auto Expo, finally we know the group behind this amazing ideas.
