Default DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018

Big shoutout to Suhaas307 for shooting these pictures & his coverage of the Auto Expo. Thanks for sharing!

This is the DC TCA (Titanium, Carbon and Aluminium). It's positioned above the Avanti with an expected Rs. 50 lakh price-tag:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-01-dsc01008.jpg

It certainly looks very well proportioned. I think it's a good looking car without any deal-breaking styling faux pas:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-02-dsc01029.jpg

It's mid-engined, and powered by a Euro 6, 3800cc 320 BHP engine, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-03-dsc01013.jpg

It will be introduced in the next 6-8 months in a limited run of 299 cars, each personally signed by DC:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-04-dsc01014.jpg

I'm impressed with the way it looks. You could take the TCA to a Cars & Coffee meet and it would fit right in with the supercars:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-05-dsc01016.jpg

Projectors at the front, and a large faux mesh insert below it:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-11-dsc01024.jpg

Some possibly real venting, and some faux mesh again (it's been used a lot):
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-12-dsc01023.jpg

The show car was riding on the 20" Pirelli P Zeros:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-14-dsc01010.jpg

I liked the fact that the 'TCA' badging on the side is in black 3-dimensional lettering:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-15-dsc01011.jpg

Note the tricolor positioned behind the window:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-16-dsc01018.jpg

The interior was not openly displayed, since it is incomplete. Suhaas307 said it looked a lot better than the Avanti, with more chrome highlights, carbon fibre bits and elegant touches:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-17-dsc01019.jpg

Intake and venting for the 3.8L V6. Note the door handles with the old-school keyhole:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-18-dsc01012.jpg

Panel-gaps look tight and consistent, though Suhaas noted that there are still bits of fit & finish that need tweaking before production:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-19-dsc01020.jpg

The mid-mounted engine-cover is made of translucent black plastic (though a lot of what you're seeing is reflections of the ceiling):
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-20-dsc01027.jpg

The gaps in the paneling are a cool design touch:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-21-dsc01028.jpg

While basic engine specs were shared, the source of the final engine to be used for production has not been disclosed yet:

DC Hammer

The fully enclosed bodywork makes the Thar look like a more modern offering:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-02-dsc01031.jpg

Suhaas307 says it looks more like a factory-job than most of DC's other work:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-04-dsc01044.jpg

The classic jeep front grill has been maintained - but modernized with projector headlights and torpedo-like fog lights:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-05-dsc01055.jpg

Note the bronzed-look on the mesh and wiper arms:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-07-dsc01051.jpg

Roof lights… or given their positioning, sky-lights?
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-08-dsc01052.jpg

Wait a minute… is this a play on "HUMMER"? Note the Thor-like hammer symbol too:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-15-dsc01045.jpg

The front fender flows over into a large moulded side-step:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-17-dsc01046.jpg

And then back up to the flared rear wheel-arch:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-19-dsc01049.jpg

Retro looking chrome wheels suit the look:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-20-dsc01047.jpg

What looks like a part of the taillight is actually a red plastic molding. It did a good job of fooling me until I saw it up close:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-22-dsc01063.jpg

The interiors are certainly on the flashier side:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-01-dsc01035.jpg

Red leather with quilted stitching adorns the door pads and the seats. The faux walnut paneling looks a bit mismatched here:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-01-dsc01038.jpg

Steering wheel matches the red & black colour scheme too. Lot's of chrome garnishing on the dials:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-02-dsc01036.jpg

All-red dashboard, and once again the faux wood looks out of place to me. That said, I'm undoubtedly not the target customer here:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-03-dsc01039.jpg

View from the rear seats:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-06-dsc01057.jpg

The roof is vaulted, with the center portion containing multiple cabin lights:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-07-dsc01058.jpg

Open the tailgate and the foot-board automatically extends outwards and retracts when it's shut (ala Range Rover):

DC Lounge

DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-01-dsc01080.jpg

DC also showcased their DC lounge, now based on the Innova Crysta:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-02-dsc01081.jpg

Great choice of wheels, and the body-cladding though a bit bulky, blends in fairly well:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-03-dsc01065.jpg

There have been no major design changes to the front half of the cabin, besides updated upholstery - which looks really nice:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-04-dsc01064.jpg

Here's a closer look at how thick the body-cladding is. The plus side is that this would protect the paint from a lot of urban scars:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-05-dsc01079.jpg

Open the door, and a foot-board automatically extends out. Note that it's split into two, with the front & rear getting individual foot-boards:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-06-dsc01078.jpg

The rear is completely isolated from the driver, with several value-adds built in. Suhaas says fit & finish are not quite factory, but its decent with significant room for improvement:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-10-dsc01066.jpg

Tables fold out. Note that the table-top can also slide towards the passenger, exposing cup holders and some more storage space:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-11-dsc01072.jpg

A mini cooling box sits at the center, just below a set of AC vents:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-12-dsc01077.jpg

The 3rd row has been removed completely, and the 2nd row moved back. Suhaas says the reclining rear seats are comfortable and work well. Note the supportive wings on the headrests:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-15-dsc01068.jpg

3 memory buttons remember your saved seat positions, making it quick & easy to switch from one position to another:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-16-dsc01074.jpg

Electric seat controls are placed on the left side of the squab. Note the lumbar adjustment too:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-17-dsc01071.jpg

The roof gets two large light panels, as well as another set of AC vents:
DC Design @ Auto Expo 2018-18-dsc01075.jpg

For the first time I am finding the DC designs to be appealing.

TCA - Looks awesome!
Hammer - Exterior is nice, but I hope the interiors can be toned down a bit as per customer order.
DC Lounge - Looks like a good idea for the chauffeured Sheths! Way more interior space than any sedan and the Toyota reliability.

TCA should be interesting. Giving the option of a manual would make it even nicer!!

The Thar based thing looks like crap. Interiors are way too gaudy.. too much plastic on the exterior will look worn out and warp really quick and whoever buys this will regret wasting their money on cosmetic nonsense. Better to get offroad specific mods done with the same money (or maybe less)
This is my personal opinion. People who like the "Hammer" please dont be offended!

TCA - Way better in terms of appearance compared to its predecessor. Looks a lot more authentic. The headlights look spectacular but the front grill resembles the mouth of a gold fish. a few more generations and this car could end up as poster material.

DC looks to have come up quite nicely now, compared to the flashy stuff earlier.

Liked the bronze touch and the side-step. But the interiors are beyond flash - it is screaming !

Is it just me or the DC TCA has a DSG gearbox or maybe just a gear stick head then?

Saw the DC Hammer during the Auto Expo and it does look great. Surely one of the best modifications by the design house, as far as exteriors are concerned. I am not a fan of the red interiors though.

The DC TCA too is a looker! It indeed has better proportions than the Avanti. I do like the fact that they have managed to get rid of the bloated rear profile of its smaller sibling. However, fit and finish still leave much to be desired, as the character lines on many continuous panels didn't seem to be properly aligned.

Actually no!

The DC grill is a 6 slot one, whereas the Jeep brand / Mahindra Thar grill is a seven slot one.

DC probably didn't want to lock horns with FCA.

As much as I love the exteriors of the Hammer, the interiors are a pain for the eyes! Too much red, and while this colour scheme might actually look great on a sports car, it just doesn't feel right for something like the Thar.

I have seen DC's Avanti in flesh and bone, I didn't find it exciting. TCA looks amazing and impressive. Frist time, I liked something from DC's stable.

And then, there is DC hammer. I am back to ground zero. Thar is basically an offroader, whats the need of this much of plastic on an offroader. Open the door of DC hammer and you have the striking red interior. I "ll choose to close the door and move ahead.
