The next generation Mercedes E Class will debut at the NY Auto show on April 12. New range of Petrol and diesel engines are also set to debut with the car. The cleanest diesel in the world, Bluetec will be launched in Europe in 2008. Apart from new engines, the new E also gets new enhanced safety features. And yes the new version also has gotten more complex with more gizmo's including a intelligent light system.

I don't see any changes in the looks of the car from the current one.
