Default Whats your approah, towards learning a track you know nothing about?

You don't have to be a racing driver, to have faced this problem. With games and simulators reaching such heights of realism, you could be doing it.....sitting on your couch at home!

Whether you do it for real or on a game, the concept is the same (Excluding the risk factor ofcourse).

Here are some of the rules i stick to :

1. Start slow - don't give it the stick for the first few laps. Do this until you can visualise the whole track.

2. Always underestimate your braking - if you feel you could make that corner by braking at a certin point, start off by braking a little before it. U can perform late braking once you get used to the track and your car.

3. Take one corner at a time. The more corners you try to master at one go, the more you'l goof up.

4. Choose your gears before you turn for the corner. And remember, slow in fast out (except for some corners which allow you to drift through them - not every track has them).

5. Never slam the gas pedal when exiting a corner. Gradually increase throttle as the car straightens out.

6. The faster you exit the corner, the faster your car will be on the straight.

7. Don't use jerky steering inputs, keep it smooth.

8. Be open to all sorts of racing lines and choose the ones that get you around the quickest.

9. All this will get you close to the quickest guys but, what finally matters is "How big your B***s are". Hehe

PS : If you've got a choice of tracks (usually found in games), start with the easiest and the smallest one. Don't go around, banging your way through the Nurburgring.

Those were my rules, what r your's?
