If your car gives 14.6V at idle (i would check that with a properly calibrated meter if i was you, i doubt it very much) then it will shoot up to 15.8 volts when revved higher.
This is not good for your 12V battery, your 12V electricals and many other things in your car and will reduce the life of the battery considerably.
If the meter you trust is also showing 14.6 in idle, then i sugest you visit a good electrical workshop and reduce the voltage at the charging system. | LBM's battery died last day. Maybe its coz of this reason.
