the earlier safaris had the sierra turbo engine. the sierra turbo engine should be a direct bolt on. used to have a sierra turbo ages back. but then if you're looking at a whole lot of improvement compared to the normal 2000 cc engine that you have, it is certianly not worth the effort, instead see the possibilty of a scorpio engine. that would be one helluva combination, beautiful car mated to a gem of an engine. btw, the scorpio 2600 cc (even the 1st gen engines) creams the 2.5 pajeros (2 door/softop/watteva).
