Higher Octane will surely improve the performance, but only marginally. No ways will it compensate for the lowered compression ratios

Correct, Even the K&N filter that I installed in my Accord came with a manual that said the battery must be disconnected for atleast 15 minutes. So that the ECM will reset itself and accomodate for the increased airflow automatically.
