I used to have the same problem which you are facing now.
My filter was located in the centre of the engine bay and was drawing in hot air. In the mornings when I used to leave for college at 8am the car was very responsive. I used to drive from DLF, gurgaon to DCE, Rohini everyday. As it was cold in the morning the car was very responisve, however during the day I felt the car was more sluggish than stock.

So I manufactured a new CAI pipe out of aluminium in 2.5" dia and welded a custom made velocity stack at the mouth of the pipe. the filter has a 3" flange.

Will try routing a pipe from the front of the bumper towards the filter once I finish my exams next week.
