yes the head can be repaired (shaved I guess is the better word) but if the damage is too much, it won't do. The best option that I can think of is Chor Bazaar. if they have already opened the engine, I doubt if he can get his car out for a second opinion. It might not be in running condition or atleast that's what the service guys would say.
