Mclaren have a policy in place. whoever qualifies ahead gets to choose the pit stop strategy. Hence Alonso got to chose when he would stop. He played it perfectly.
He was alway in control. Didn't try to push his tyres too hard, was happy to sit behind Lewis, as he knew he'd get his chance with the pit stop. Once he was ahead, it was clear he had the pace on Lewis. |
