here lemme give my two cents.

Hitachi , General , Voltas,Blue Star ,DAIKIN,Carrier (in a hush voice so Rtech wont hear me ) are considered to be the best in the business neverthless they are more expensive than comparable models .
General and Hitachi has one of the most efficient compressors.
LG and Samsung ? .... I dont think so.It may be cheap but if thats what you are looking for you can even try Onida, Kenstar, Electrolux.If you are planning for .8 split make sure the room is no more than 100Sqft with minimal window area . I dont think there is .75 ton split,I think you are referring to window a/c(readily offthe shelf)
