You are absolutely right. They probably know that:-
1) Most buyers don't bother to mail in their warranties
2) Most companies would not think it worth their while to prosecute isolated cases
3) The bill & warranty provided by them are incomplete in many respects
4) Buyers often go back to the seller rather than to the manufacturer in case of problems
