India`s largest passenger car maker, Maruti Udyog (Q, N,C,F)* registered
11.2% growth in number of vehicles sold (including exports) to 59,400 units in May 2007 compared with 53,396 units in May 2006.
In the domestic market the sales of vehicles surged 9.92% to 55,952 units in May 2007 compared with 50,904 units in May 2006.
The company`s volume in the domestic C segment grew by 22.7%, while in the A3 segment the sales grew by 103.8%, while the A2 segment posted a growth of 7.8% during the month.
Recently the company reported a 24.28% growth in net profits for the quarter ended March, 2007. During the quarter, the company` profits rose to Rs 4,485.60 million from Rs 3,609.20 million in the same quarter, a year ago.
Net sales for the quarter rose 35.18% to Rs 44297.60 million compared with the corresponding quarter, a year ago.
Shares of the company dropped Rs 5.90, or 0.72%, to trade at Rs 823.55 at the BSE. The total volume of shares traded was 47,784. (11.09 a.m, Friday)
