Default Need of new car Vs Peak Oil.

I am waiting for the fusion diesel launch.
Depending on the price/performance etc, I would be buying it.

But then I can across these two articles.
Peak oil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Peak Oil: Life After the Oil Crash

And that got me thinking...

Is a new car with all the goodies really worth it?
Why not to save the mullah n buy a nice 2nd hand one?
Or wait for some 1.5lakh - 2 lakh car, wherein I can use the saved money for the fuel for the rest of the car's life?

Cos as per those articles, there would be a heavy tech shift from the current means of transport...

And yes, the current fluctuations in the oil prices shows that we dont have spare oil capacity.
Oil prices fluctuated from $60 per barrel to $73 pb in a month! and then it might again decrease to $65. approx 15% delta per month really shows that we are not in a good share with respect to fuel.

Any comments?
