Been on "that" road over six times now with the Raid but still evokes wonders every time I drive through. Every time you end up seeing something new and even the same things change perspective depending on the time of the day.

The first time to Kargil was wonderful but coming back the drive was done mostly at night on a moonless night (had to keep to schedule of the raid for a early morning duty way past Leh next day) Just switched off the headlights while in a particular deep valley running along the Indus bed for a p** stop. Boy what an experience. So dark that nothing could be seen. So cold that everything .... and I mean everything was shriveled ;-) and so windy that you almost flew off!!

Yep you got to do that trip but do it in your own vehicle and drive as it pleases you and at times that please you.

Stunning pics. Are they straight out of the camera or 'photoshopped?'

News to me that Sumo had a 4x4 version. Will TATA offer the new Sumo Grande in a 4x4 version too?

Some stunning pics of breath-taking locations.

Sumo was available in 4x4 version, made-to-order, and approx 1L more than the regular versions.

BUT : why do I get the feeling that Post #1 - Pic #2 and Post #14 - Pic #6 are PS'ed ? The Sumo in those pics just seem to have been 'placed' there. Also not very convinced about the photos of the fallen truck (where it is said that the Sumo was driven around over the rocks).

Same with Post #1 - Pic #1. The Sumo seems to be 'placed' there. The direction & to some extent, the length of the shadows of the Sumo & the other objects in the pic dont seem to match well.

One of the best landscape pictures on this forum. And, oh, we now have a competitor to Rudraji in terms of the same camera and also landscape photography

Do let us know a link where we can see more of Robert's pictures. Truly amazing pictures.

Condor - It may be modified using some imaging tool, but the guy was defenitly there in his Sumo.

I dont thnk there is any doubt about that fact.

@Proxima, I am not saying he wasn't there. I am only airing my thoughts on the 3 specific pics.

I agree that some of the images (the clouds or example) are modified. The pic where the Sumo stands in a valley alone on what looks to be a good road is too good looking to be true.

However, this may be wrong, it might actually look like that. Need some of out resident tourers to clarify.

This is one of "side-effect" of digital photography . No need of PhotoShop...the pic could have been edited in-camera to make it look surreal. This is one of the reasons why I cannot bring myself to embrace digital photography in toto !!!
