Default Weekend 4x4 Event in Early July - Mumbai/Pune

Hi Guys,

How about having a 2-3 Day 4x4 Event around Mumbai-Pune.

Suggestions for

1) Dates:- my preference end JUNE(last weekend) after the first showers.

2) Terrain:-
Rocky, mud-tracks and a few river crossings

3) Technical Session:-
2WD/4WD/LSD/Diff-Locks/Axles/Articulation etc

Lets have some input guys,

Arka

how bout 1st week July. Dates = 5th - 6th. That takes care of a delayed monsoon too and by then the rains will soak the terrain very well.
If its 1st week July - count me in. safari ex 4x4.

That would be fantastic! I am in, though without a 4x4.

We could also have a discussion on jeep 'building' and customisation?

you guys could consider the Dighi Hills in Pune on Alandi road. This area is used by the army to test their tanks. The best part is that its not a restricted area and you can enter into this place from the main road. Its got the perfect terrain for 4x4 testing. They have a proper >45 degree long slope and some great rocky terrain.

Arka, only the other day, I was thinking of calling you once my Jeep is back on the road. Couldn't have been better timing! I say Lets go offroading, baby!

Couple of pointers from my end:

1. We must do this over 3 days atleast, and choose a hill-station as main base.

2. Mahabaleshwar / Panchgani would be best. Why? We leave from Mumbai and keep the first days offroading in Dighi Hills (shrivz' suggestion). Once done, we can move on to M'war which is only about 2 hours from there.

2. The evening of the first day, and the entire of the second day could be planned for off-roading in M'war, technical sessions etc.

3. On the third day, and on the way back to Mumbai, we can have a final offroad session in Lonavla!

4. I can get in touch with Srikant from Sportscraft and take some maps from him. He has conducted mega great escapes in Lonavla and Panchgani.

5. Another option would be Silvassa, which also has plenty off-roading terrain. But then, we would be restricted to Silvassa only while plan A gives us the opportunity to offroad in three different places.

If everyone is okay to stretch this event to 4 days, I am all the better for it. 1st week of July sounds ideal!

okie the plan sounds good, we can start with Offroading @ Rajmanshi in lonavala, i have posted a complete report of my last season here.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-of...-july-too.html
and it should just take a day to finish it if we are not planning to venture some new places within. after completing this we can move to mahabaleshwar and continue from there. you guys can set the plan. i can make it for weekend but cant say about streching it to 4 days. i will try to get my gang along.

Default Dharamsala

Could one of you guys swing up to Dharamsala and pick me up? I will contribute by navigating and humming the tunes to dirty songs.

Plan sounds excellent GTO.
And 1st week of July is perfect. Fits perfectly into my schedule.
Sounds great > dighi hills, mahabaleshwar, panchgani,... super!!!
Done Rajmachi all the way up in a 2wd sumo 3 yrs ago during summertime. But the monsoon scenery will be splendid.
Count me & my 2.2 4x4 in if the dates are 1st/2nd week July. Please feel free to PM me.

I can assure you whatever you feel/expect is very true when our dear Arka is organising it. He is the man, just make sure all you senior (T-BHP) guys give him all the support (not that he needs it), after all he is a T-BHPian & an off roader.
