Default Chennai OTR's- Thunder down under:-))

Hi folks,
Thought of dedicating a thread to regular off roading done in this part of country and hence this thread.
It has been raining heavily in and around chennai for past few weeks and there was flodding in chennai. Our off roading instincts woke up and we thought to head and explore some swamps and wet soil . The week after severe flooding we headed to explore Kelambakam area, no not the quary which most of you are familiar. The idea was to explore the outskirts of chennai and we went into a literal act of making our own road through rivulets, swamps and recently afforested area.

6.00 A.m sharp a convoy of about 8-9 4wds including 2 gypsys and one Jonga left tidel park. We broke the journey to have breakfast on the way at Harrish hotel at about 7.00 a.m and later by 8.00 headed stright to the unknown....

Hi,

Where are the other pics? Would love to see the Jonga in action.
Did the Jonga have the stock petrol engine?

Cheers

Default OTR continues

well, we took a diversion from kelambakkam road and entered a rivulet and tried to follow it to its tip and finally after about 10-15kms of off road driving we hit the main road of tiruporur. The road took us to swamps, sand and slush. There was one MM540 with a broken front axle and hence running on 2wd. The jeep was always hooked to another CJ 340 after we felt it wouldnt just move without 4wd. Jonga was not at its full state of tune but did well. Needless to say Cj 340 with NDMS was the best and Gypsys were lightfooted as well. Radials struggled in slush as expected but were good on sand and soft ground. let pics do the talking......

Show your dad the pics....may be he will buy you a 4wd jeep! Well a 4wd safari can also so this but you need deep pocket to set it right after it takes few hits under belly

true jothi!!! addicted is the word to describe my state before joining T-BHP. After seeing all thats happening and having let the bug bite me , the whole thing has got into my blood. Only thing thats proving a hurdle for me is $$$. My dad is like i won't give you a single penny for wandering the woods. But that will not stop me from venturing!!!!

Thanks Vinod,

Nice Videos. I quite liked the black MM540 in the pics. It looks the most sorted out of all vehicles present.
