GS, thanks for posting the videos. Really enjoying them.

I feel something needs to be thought about to overcome local extortion while offroading. Paying money for driving around on no mans land(a drying lake bed) is nothing but extortion. First the chap said, that the sticky slush of the receding river bed was his farming pitch. Then he changed his stance to donation for the temple in the name of God. Then he insisted that we pay else we cannot leave the location. He started by demanding 25k and then settled for 2k.
All offroadies to any such locations around Bombay, please be advised to carry "donation/extortion money"with you, or make sure that your numbers are so large that there wont be an extortion bid.

We also need to think about how we can do minimum damage, if at all, to local village environs. Imagine a fleet of 4x4s driving through your village raising dust and destroying the peace, eventually a protest from the villagers is bound to happen.
It would be best to find locations that are off villages, like abandoned mines, etc.
I remember a time when I used to go to Rajmachi for a trek. Then the bikes started coming and then a few local vehicles with supplies came halfway only. Now every monsoon the trail is marauded by US, offroadies. I spoke to a local from the village a few weeks ago when i had gone alone with a friend. He says, now its become difficult for the local tempo to come up with supplies due to the trail getting deeply rutted by the "jeep waala chokras from Bombay"

Sorry to go offtopic guys, here are some pics from me.

On this note: Tejas, the slings you sourced are a boon. very well rated for OTR use and of ideal length too.
Tejas, could you please ask Matthew to mail the pics he shot so I can upload them. He has my mail id.
Dr. Mohan, your friend too has shot many pics. Will appreciate if he can share them too.

It was a fun OTR. Im coming with a towel and extra undies next time. The possibility of going for a swim at such beautiful locations is just too tempting.

Cheers,

Jay

Till 6:30. Went to another spot after you left. Safari and Gorkha got stuck there. Another fun towing exercise.

I have decided to outsource my skills to the bombay traffic police!

i was running a tyre pressure of 24psi, but i always had in mind that these tyres were gonna makes me lose out. fortunately i didnt have any flat tyre as these tyres have been unutilised for a pretty long time.

and yes, as Tejas mentioned, i need to check the clutch. The Mech at MASS was stating that it needed a replacement.

AMazing narration and the videos were hilarious to say the least. Nice to put faces to alot of handles on tbhp as i have read all the travellogues of Jay.

The second Gurkha looks wicked. States its purpose on first sight.

I still love the safari though both got beeched!

Also am sure Desmo will be loving as he must have learnt quite a bit on this OTR.

@gsferrari, excellent video's buddy.
@Raj you got a reputation man.I think once you change tyres of your gypsy, offroad capabilties of your gypsy will improve drastically.

FEW MORE VIDEOS.

After Imran bashed his Gypsy and made it work hard,at one point it got obstinate and refused to budge... because all the while Jay was insisting "Pyaar se..pyaar se" and the Gypsy started having different ideas. This video reflects the Gypsy's mood at that time.

Can someone post pics of the last obstacle where my Safari was tilted sideways and didnt start due to the fuel cutoff. Need to post it on the technical thread where a debate is ongoing.
