Ok, ok... here goes.

Continuing from where Mohan left off...

Mohan and party leave approx at 2am after dinner just as devang and imran show up.

Devang: "guys, what all did i miss?"

We: " well not much, but flying ibrahim got stuck for a change"

Devang: "i also wanna, so let's go back"

And so we head back. Now from 2:00 am till 10:30 am we were just at that very spot!

We head to the same place and again cross the ditch where alok's rear bumper gets damaged and for the fourth time i hit my rear foot step on the exit. Guys, now enough of that spot. No more!

That's this spot:

Then Devang goes a little away (towards the lake) from the spot that ibrahim was stuck and of course gets stuck.

That's this pic:

He is towed out (by whom i don't remember).

Then they discover another spot even more closer to the lake side leading to a climb. The same spot which Mohan and Rahul earlier wanted to come down from but had to be aborted.

So monstar (G1) tries it but as said earlier, he did it very slow and nearly made it out but in the end rolled back and got stuck.

Imran (G2) comes to the rescue and makes the crossing and the climb from next to monstar. However, his car is also at an incline and could not make the pull due to loss of traction. There were hairy moments when he was maneuvering to pull devang out.

We can't pull devang out from back since there is a small piece of land (peninsula type) between the two water bodies so the towing vehicle will have no place to stand and have good traction as well.

Alok (G3) is called in to assist imran's gypsy in pulling out monstar.

Now, instead of taking the same approach path as imran, he takes another.

A little about the approach path: the piece of land is so small that it is very difficult to take a turn and then cross. So what we did with imran was that we made him shift to 2WD and as his wheels started spinning, we pushed from the side and got the car angled the way we wanted.

Alok however could not get the same angle. He goes in slightly at an angle and with less speed and gets stuck. Because of his angle, we could pull him out. But he is too close to monstar. The first pull with the classic and aided by G3's power, got the car sliding more towards monstar. Thus the below pic:

Oh yes and Genesis, i have applied for my official towing license!

By now, imran make s the complete climb and comes to a good flat ground. We attach two tow ropes (total 17meters) and he manages to pull monstar out.

Now Alok is left in the clear to be pulled out. my car alone is unable to pull him since i am also in slushly terrain and am not getting traction. So we attach Pinkybhai's Gurkha to my car and with combined power of all three vehicles (gurkha>classic>stuck gypsy) we pull. this only results in him sliding sideways instead of coming out. this i think is due to the spinning rear wheels of the gypsy. Anyways, we again abort. But this has result in the gypsy being dragged 10 meters sideways to another spot where now my classic could get a spot with relatively harder ground.

My trepadors became useless in thick slush but have a great advantage that you can go for a short spin and they self clean very well.

Anyways, now my classic is again connected alone to the gypsy and alok does not try to assist with the gypsy's power and others are also pushing the gypsy from the side to make come out straight.

Finally the gypsy comes out. It's nearly 9am now.

ibrahim and devang pester me to go and do the same crossing and climb. But i refuse. By this time it was already 27hours without sleep for me and i had no energy to get into the whole recovery process in case my classic got stuck. And the gypsies would have a harder time towing me out.

to be continued...

Awaiting pics from mathew

it was crazy.
Perfect Spot for Towing and Recovery training.
I had my share of training and believe me those were important lessons in off-roading.
I would rather look for some other training now.

Nice pics Soumya-you are consistently consistent.

@Spike: The KL registered classic belongs to Mathew who runs a shack in Lonavala called Rainmaker's Shack. I dont think there is an RTO in Lonavala

So Tejas, what happened next?

I think given the penchant for intentionally getting stuck in slush, we should be hosting BYOTR ("Bring Your Own Towing Rope") parties going forward.

So Tejas, I think you finally answered the question as to what happened next!
