Here is a link from a buyer:
Meandering(s): The Mahindra & Mahindra Bolero Invader
St.Joseph’s Senior. Sec. School

What are the current specs of Invader and why is it not in any Mahindra website?

Samurai, getting info from M&M website is a pain, they dont update it for all products, only the Scorpio and Bolero info is updated in the separate websites, not technical info about other products in the parent M&M website. Ask the dealers for any other product, and they will most probably tell you "Why dont you buy the Bolero, sir? it is much better..blah..blah"

They say Invader is the successor of Classic. Then why don't I see a huge following for Invader?

afraid NO WEBSITE Samurai, looks like the Gurkha way, better avoid too many orders or may be just exahust all the existing (Invader specific) inventory or break even with the initial R&D cost incurred.

But there is a M&M Yard in Hosur, just next to BIMETAL Bearings factory, about 8Kms after Hosur on the Chennai GQ, I see a hell lot of 2WD Invaders each month stocked and despatched. I striked up a conv with those hindi drivers and understood most of them heading towards GODS Own Country. (few 4WD here and there)

I guess the 50K is well accepted in kerala than other parts. Looks like the 50K is a very very long time running offer, they might as well reduce the price officially.!

So if anyone game for the 4WD Invader for 5.6L (OTR in bangalore) go for it. I also got a assurance from the person I spoke to that spares are available in plenty for both CL and Invader.

It is still available. Got a quote from the Mahindra dealer a few months back and there was a bunch of new vehicles on their lot.

They will have much better luck if they revive the MM540 maybe with the scorpio engine, but that would be too progressive for a traditional indian company that grew out of the monopoly conferred on them by our first socialist prime minister nehru.

Why did mahindra discontinue a beautiful vehicle like the MM540/MM550 and try to replace it with the Bolero invader?

To appeal to the yuppy crowd, I don't think it worked though.

I am very curious about the tech specs on Invader, is it a SWB, what kind of engine, etc.

I think it has more to do with trademark issues with Chrysler over the "Jeep" name and also the classic Jeep "grill/front fascia".

Thanks Santosh, it has little extra information over the dealer site here: DPC Motors Pvt. Ltd. - Authorised Dealer for MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA Vehicles

No information on the dimensions, or even torque figures. Strange!

Since you have provided the source (google link) along with the images, hopefully it shouldn't be a copyright issue.

Invader if offered at Majors price in 4wd would be a good alternative or else it is too pricy. Major is good off road and has loads of character, invader good for Air conditioned drive (if installed) and better driving comfort. Try plonking MRF sand masters 7.50 16 on invader 16inch rims and the looks would improve!

Samurai, the pics are not from Google, Few years ago I managed to download 2 PDF files of the Invader Brochure. Since you asked, I opened the PDF and took a screenshot of each page and posted it here. I could not upload a PDF so posted them as Jpg's.

EDIT - I think i will mail the same person who sent me the Major's Specs in the other thread. Keep watching this one..

Engine's being the same, lets have a small comaprison:

Kerb Weight:
Mahindra Bolero Invader 4WD: 1450 kg
Mahindra Major 4WD: 1300 kg

Wheelbase:
Mahindra Bolero Invader 4WD: 2680 mm
Mahindra Major 4WD: 2310 mm

Turning Radius:
Mahindra Bolero Invader 4WD: 5.3 m
Mahindra Major 4WD: 5.9 m

So with better tyres and 50K difference between the Mahindra Invader and the Mahindra Major(Invader being costlier). I think the Invader 4WD is a good on and off road option for enthusiasts to go for. Use it to commute to office and also for that offroading on weekends.

The Invader 4WD is being compared to the Major 4WD only.
