Your are right about the no nonsense aspect of this vehicle. It is all about getting the job done. It don't matter if it raining, flooding, mudslides, potholes , no roads,.....you get the picture. It has been a great jeep to own and has held up very well with almost no breakdowns. The engine and gearbox are bulletproof (as is everything else). But, I have maintained this thing to a very high level. I drive this machine really, really hard, but do comprehensive servicing to keep it in "as new" condition. No second hand parts etc. Mahindra has not done a good job providing spares or ever after sales service.

Hi GTO, I agree that the XDP motor is very good. But it runs low on power at high altitudes. You are right, the carrier is ugly, but has lot of utility. I have been fixing my spare tire on the carrier since I put an extra fuel can on the rear tailgate where the spare used to go. I just can't get by without the carrier and I want to redesign it with a lower profile one. I have had problems at underground parking spots at a mall in Gurgaon and other places that have metal barriers overhead to restrict truck traffic. Yes a K&N in a diesel. It works great. Diesels are basically big air pumps and push much more air through the engine than a petrol engine, so they benefit more with a free flow intake. But the downsides are: More dirt in your engine will require more frequent oil changes and will shorten your engine life. And a lot more noise(I personally think this is positive). The amp is just too big to fit behind the dash, besides, I have an A/C unit below the dash. The other issue is that I can't really listen to the stereo that well anyway with all the engine noise, and blasting the stereo with a big amp just ends up giving me a headache. I promise that the next write up will be the Red Jeep ![]()

| BHPian | Lovely Jeep. Just dont like the Steel hardtop... however I agree its practical. The A/C is nice touch.. was that a difficult project? or a no brainer? looks like a Amby/Conty kit. Also dont think you answered this.. Is this an Ex Army Service Vehicle? If so what was the winning bid if I may ask ![]()

| The roll cage is in case the rolls or tips over you don't get crushed. If you go 4 wheeling and really do some challenging terrain, you will get in situations where you are close to rolling. It is also a good improvement to the basic vehicle in terms of crash safety. |

| With those big wide tyres, have you done anything special to the steering? Looks like it might be a little hard to crank around at low speed....is it?

| Hi Gaurav, Nice touch you have give to your jeep. My MM540 is under renovation and i want to know a bit more about the AC fitting (specially the blower). Infect I am thinking to buy a complete deshboard of Bolero or Armada just for the blower purpose, but I have picked up a better idea.
