Ask me about the headache of matching an aftermarket engine to a suitable 4x4, and I will write a book on the topic! Please dont venture in this area, DirtyDan. It is simply not worth it, more so as you have limited support in your neck of the woods.

Stick to a stock 4x4 setup.

You could get in contact with one of these guys from this gypsy group. PDEV'S friends have done many engine swaps. The latest i saw was a BALENO 1.6 engine into the Gypsy. If he has retained the 4wd system iam not sure. but he could answer your questions.

pddev, what's up with you bro? Do you need a special invite or what for uploading some day-light pictures of your modded Gypsy?

Bro, don't test our patience. Believe me, many of the t-bhpians are not as civilized and gentleman as they appear to be on the T-BHP forums communicating in english. This is an 'english only' forum and hence you are lucky to be spared of the choicest 'hindi' praises here

Ok, enough of threats to you . Posts the pics brother. Eagerly waiting for the pics.

The Jeep looks good except for the 14 lights on the front. just a tad over the top I feel.

Does your camera not work in the day ?

We are all waiting for some nicely lit pics.

We think its an AP registered, MG410 1000cc narrow track red gypsy with huge tyres and rims.
Do you do some nice off-roading with it?

Hey RR, where are you based out of? If in Bangalore, haven't seen this Gypsy in the Off Road meets/events that we do in Bangalore.

Do join us for the OTR events that we do almost every month. Would love to have more Gypsy's taking the off road route.

@nitrous: .. that was witty..

Cheers,
SK

I know for sure the camshaft is different.
Someone who's transplanted a G13B to a MG410 could highlight.
I'm told the esteem engine is taller than the 1000cc one and hence we need to cut the bonnet. Thats why the difference between the MG410 and MG413 bonnet profile.

With some mods.

For me, the money is not the main problem in doing modifications. It is the complexity coupled with the fact that I live in a remote area that does not have great mechanical shop options.
You could plonk the isuzu / toyota diesels in the gypsy. Retaining 4wd will be some challenge and if done by an expert, will not be a problem.
