Default Coorg OTR 2008: OTR Photo Log

Friends,

Just returned from 2 days of off-roading bliss in Coorg. The rains were not as heavy as expected so, the terrain was relatively easy this time around. Last year it was 'extreme' OTR. This time around it was 'moderate' OTR.

Day 1 was a planned OTR with nearly 35+ 4x4's doing mud/slush bath in the jungles near Polibetta.

Day 2 was a kind of unplanned sojourn by few of us folks into Chelvara falls & Choma Kunda. It was a mix of off-roading & some breathtaking scenic beauty.

Here are some pictures -- I am toooooo lazy right now to give a detailed writeup of the 2 days.

Pictures from Day 1 of the OTR:

Yes, E_L, Samurai should give a detailed OTR report. To be honest, I am being lazy, knowing fully well that Samurai will give a detailed report :-)

Wow! Nice pics and for a nerd like me your moderate OTR does not fit in as to me it does look like extreme OTR in the case of the yellow ride. I had never been on offroading anytime, and seeing this i feel like joining. Keep the pics coming.

VJ, in the first set of pics, there are 2 different 'yellow' jeeps. see the tyre pattern carefully and you will be able to make out the difference.

And yes, you would be surprised at the number of 'nerds' that have a passion for off-roading .

Nitrous, The LC had some fuel pump failure, so did not come to the OTR Spot.

Samurai had a very nice OTR; however, I will leave the details for Samurai to post.

@N_C, if it had rained heavily, then the same terrain and the same OTR would have turned into an 'extreme' version. Basically, the more rain you have, the more slush, muck and mud you have and it leaves the 4x4's with very little traction to hold on and the tyres just spin on like on a glass top. Also, the innocuous looking stream bed crossings turn into monsters as the slush turns into clay and something like quicksand and just doesn't let your 4x4 through.

I, like most off-raoders, am not good with words so can't do justice in sharing through words on how the 2 days went. Can share only through pictures tough

Are you referring to Tom from Mercara? If yes, then he was there.
