"SD25 generates 15-16Kgm @ 1600-2000rpm for 250+ Kgs
XD3P generate 15-16Kgm @ 1800-2000Rpm for 194Kgs."

One more help Which Compatible Engine gives 20-25Kgm Torque ? I am looking for a Engine with torque (Cost effective) .

Go for the OLD SCORPIO 2.6 SZ. Heavy but TORQUE in the region you ask for and is cost effective!!

How do you know the power ratings of both the engines, Have you tested them on a dyno?
Have you weighed them both?

Every year on teambhp the power of xd3p is going up and weight reducing. From 72bhp now its 75, from 13.5kgm its reaching 16 now. Wait for another 3 years and you will have a XD3P beating a 426 Hemi engine

Headers i cannot give you technical knowledge, but with my limited experience have driven them on and off i can comment .IF is its good its good .

Ideal engine depends on your budget .Because it really becomes ideal not only with the engine but the transmission too.

Ideal on budget , from what i know ,
SD25,
Om616 with kiki.

Budget around 1L,,
Isuzu G1 with isuzu MSG 5 speed GB.
Toyota 3c turbo with Isuzu msg

Nothing more i can think of, DCM, BD30 are not so ideal tough. Lot of alteration , more NVH and they are not tried and tested for many years like the others.

For your purpose , G1 is the best , i say it again, you can cruise at 120km on road with 4.27 as well as beat a xd3p 550 (4.88) offroad with 4.27. Dont ask me how it is possible, i have seen it. Drive it one day and you tell me how its possible

does it mean all mechanical system ( & non CEDE ) ??

P.S. I think the Mico nozels will work with some different pressure settings than OE/spec ( Just a thought ).

The Mitsubishi 4D31

Engine Specifications :- (Goooooogle)

Type: 4D31. water cooled 4 cylinder in line direct injection Diesel Engine.
Bore: 100 mm
Stroke: 105 mm
Capacity” 3298 cc
Compression Ratio: 17.5 : 1
Brake Power: 68 kW at 3500 RPM (91HP)
Torque: 221 Nm at 2200 RPM

What about the size and weight ? Is it possible to fit in a 550 with KMT90 ?

Boss: Apparently this engine is a favorite of mine. The height of the engine could pose problems for installing it in a 540/550!!

I have not measured it, but one seeing the engine alongwith Toyota 14B, Mazda, and Isuzu engines, this one is TALL..by almost 6 odd inches.

We may be able to mount it etc, but the efficient offroad ability will take a hit.

The best I'm told is the Toyota 14B that comes off a DCM Toyota light truck. Spares are not that much an issue too.

BTW, the ISUZU powerplants are good. Unless you have the isuzu 5 speed 4wd GBs, it does not make sense for that powerplant at all!! Isuzu 4 speed aint good enough to harness the engine!

The isuzu engines are apparently the best in NVH of the above lot as they are SOHC engines.

The 4D31 is a DOHC one though
