Hello
I think it did came with p4 perkins. Read this paragraph i copied from janes.com or click on the link.

("The JONGA/Nissan Patrol is entirely conventional in design, however, the JONGA vehicle underwent numerous automotive changes during its production life. It was produced with a 145 hp four-litre petrol engine in place of an earlier 125 hp unit and was also available with a Perkins P4(V) diesel. The final standard engine was a four-litre Hino WO4D diesel developing 108 hp and introduced in 1996.")

http://articles.janes.com/articles/J...cle-India.html

Also what was about hino mechanics you said, did u mean its difficult to repair? Its made in abundance by ashok leyland in india. And please explain me the reverse firing order? Is there any problem ? Regards

Hi
There is some disconnect, the Nissan P60 was produced in 1961, was in production till 1999 in various parts of the world. Till 1996 there was no change in engine i.e. 3956 cubic capacity six cylinder in line engine with hitachi carburetor and keihein distributor producing 110 bhp as per company specks the site you mentioned claims 145 bhp. Only Perkins v 8 crossed 100 bhp that and Perkins 6 which was turbocharged, please note the Jabalpur factory produced 110 civilians model with Hino engines with extended chassis but was never produced for army.
The Hino engine one of the best engine most suited for jonga, but lack of spare and poor know how of local mechanics did not make it a success. Most mechanics had not seen the new type of firing order.

Use the "search" function on this subject.. There is heaps of information with regards to the Jonga on the forum.

Which Hino Turbo engine are you referring to?? The ones used by VFJ for the civilian versions were normally aspirated motors..

You can get a Hino diesel engine (NA) and gearbox off a Shaktiman truck for around 10k - 20k.. Will require a good rebuild though.
