Hi Whicked wheels,

Any plans to integrate orange bulbs in one of the fog/parking lamps fabricated to replace the front turn indicators removed?

Nice tyres by the way. The bolero looks meaner with the headlight surrounds blackened out and round headlamps.

How is the light throw after this modification?

Regards,
Rocky

Hi Whicked Wheels,

Do you reside in Pradhikaran/Nigdi/Akurdi area, I am pretty sure I saw your Bolero (looks really mean man) at Akurdi Village road, you were at the turn near the Bunty Group site.
Would really want to see the beast in person! And I mean the Bolero

Now fitted to see the where and how the mounts can be positioned. I want to keep the ride height normal.

Hi Wicked Wheels,

You can drill a hole in the chassis, sleeve it and reinforce the sides and fit a custom anti-inversion shackle

Arka

Hi Arka
I was planning to do the same but the problem is the shackle mount is come just under the engine mount. So yet have to work my way around that problem. The other thing is i am also thinking of going in for longer leaf springs so as to gain more droop (drop) during articulation.
One more question should i go in for SPOA or SUA as this is gonna be my daily drive too. Personally i would keep it SUA. What do u suggest.

Hi Wicked Wheels,

Try and work around the engine mounts.

Longer Leaf Springs may change axle centre and Wheel Base.

KISS -revert to OEM 4x4 Bolero Set up, Its still not too late.

Also(mock up) Fit the steering box first, then weld the leaf spring hangers.

Regards,

Arka

Hello whicked wheels,
What is the purpose to go in for SPOA? If it's better GC & articulation, would "Dog Bone Shackles" be any help for you??

I understand that I'm a completely noob when it comes to 4wd's & offroading, so do take my words at your own risks!!!

Varun

Hi Arka
Im just waiting to get the steering box, cant find a power steering box. The rate one guy gave me for a used one was 14k and the new one cost about 19k so did not buy it. On the other hand thinking of going in for the non power steering one. Will that be fine for the bolero.

I want to go for the reverse shackle because its gonna give me a smoother ride. And the longer springs will give me the articulation i want for off roading.

Hi Varun
Dog bone, zigzag , angled or any shape of shackle does not change anything in the geometry of the leaf springs its the distance of the i hole from each other that matters. Check this link you will get a better idea http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/jeep-...le-basics.html. No hard feeling Varun i too keep on reading all this kind of stuff it helps a lot.

Regards James

Default Shackle & Reversal

Hi James,

How will Shackle reversal give a smoother ride?

wrt to Longer Leaf Springs, IIRC the Solid Axle is bolted to the Leaf Spring Centre.

So if you use longer leaf springs, with shackle reversal, the wheel base will decrease, since the leaf spring is anchored at one end on the chassis.

If you Longer Leaf Spring with Regular Shackle setup, then the wheel base will increase.

And while you try to do it the right way you will realize, that, the Aprroach angle has changed drastically.

Are you sure that the 4x4 Bolero doesn't have enough front articulation?

Regards,

Arka
