Hi Arka

The bole does have enough of articulation but im hungry for more😃. As for longer leafs i might have to adjust the mounts a bit and Arka i have taller tyres than the regular ones which might just compensate for the approach angle.

Regards James

Today will start work on the leaf spring mounts will not be going for the shackle reversal set but instead will be going in for longer rear leaf springs up front ( RUF - rears up front) with a standard setup.here some pics of the differrential

Can the IFS mounts on the chassis left for futrure reversal, or do they come in the way and have to be cut out?

Hi Santosh
The ifs lower mount has to be cut of u can leave the upper mount but it might hit the tyre during articulation, the shocker mount also has to be cut.
Now for some updates got the boomerang shackles done and fitted, some pics of the process.

Hi James,

Nice work on you Bolero.

Please look into the following.

1) The boomerang shackles? How will they Help? Will they survive Torsional load under articulation?

2) The helper spring in the front spring pack will snag with the chassis under full compression.

Regards,

Arka

Hi Arka

The shackles are 8mm thick so i think it will take the load, if not i have made provision for a support spacer to be fitted. Your second point of the springs hitting the chassis is the reason i made boomerang shackles it moves the spring towards the front. Tried it out with three of us jumping the chassis. As of now its ok but offroad its gonna be a different story for sure. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping my calculations are right.

James Saab ;

There is a way to check the leaf spring deflation , just attach the Gundi Pata or with the cover pata , [main leaf & cover leaf ] to the axle , while the body is not in place ( mounted ) , no other leafs please.

This way you can judge whats happening wrt

# articulation

# axle clearance between lower engine components .

I think its high time to visit the place to see & observe & to absorb the things going on there .

Awaiting your permission & appointment Sir

With best regards to the adventure

James ; you just don't know what you are doing

Hats off to your adventure , yes it is one . The end can be as unpredictable as anything , but the thrill to ride the tide -- well I just got some wind of it & I am truly exited.

Some one needs to be mad enough & passionate enough to carry some adventurous ideas . I highly appreciate your calculated passion coupled with the adventurous madness of implementing wild ideas .

Thanks for letting me in the shop & sharing views.

Carry on , just dont care about the outcome. Doesn't matter, the whole effort is worth living for.

Hi guys

Thanks Sudarshan it was a pleasure. With your knowledge and experience that u carry has always amazed me thanks for the pointers will work on them.
Yes people really think i am gone mad yes for sure if i wasn't there would be no project, jeeps have always been a passion for me right from childhood. My first jeep too had a lot of stuff when nobody had tube fenders rock sliders, 2wd low,and 5.38 diffs, like to do the things out of the box but not without studying before i venture into a project. Even with the bolero i have been doing the same thing.
