For Mumbai folks:

Stumbled upon this shop/office in Opera House which sells Pressure Gauges, Inflator Deflators and all sorts of Automobile tools. (toolKits, garage equipment, spanners, jacks)

Great collection, good quality stuff and really nice and knowledgeable person running the show.

I bought a tyre pressure gauge (analog pencil type, imported one, extremely sturdy) but ended up browsing for a while. Gadget lovers paradise.

Industrial Machinery Tools Corp (IMTC)
15 Avantikabai Gokhale Street, Mumbai 400 004
Phone: 022 5635 6162
Contact person: Rupak

It is on the first floor of a building opposite Impala Motors. Looks like an office but they do sell retail stuff

I was in Mayapuri yesterday and was inquiring about Jerry Cans. A shop keeper told me that there are factories of Jerry Can manufacturers in Kandivilli, Mumbai. He was also very sure that some of these factories supply the jerry cans to the Indian Army.
Price wise he had an idea of 1100-1200 bucks for brand new ones!!!

Does anyone have any idea where this factory is??

Hey Harjeev,
If i remember it right, the factory is in Nagpur.
Bharat (rkbharat) purchased them before his trip to Leh.
You'll find more details, link to their website, some pictures etc.,. in this thread. Here is the link http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1898180-post133.html
This is the website of the manufacturer www.technotools.co.in

Deepak

Thanks for the info Starter.
I had a talk with Rajeev sometime back and I remember that he wasn't too happy with the quality of the jerry cans.
Also I think that the manufacturer of the the jerrycans 'Techno Tools' is in Kanpur and not Nagpur. Still it would be great if RKBharat could comment and share his experience with the jerry cans.

I bought plastic jerrycans for around 100-150 each.
They are not airtight. But neither are army disposal ones, however, if you take a large baloon and use it as a sort of gasket between the mouth and the plug, it will be airtight.
This time for spiti, I got diesel from pb, put a baloon on the mouth, and plugged it up.
At high altitude, the can had swelled like a baloon!
I had to vent it by removing and refitting the baloon.

Guys, check out the latest edition of Autobild India. The whole magazine this time is on SUVs amd there are several articles on accessories, things required to make your truck off-road ready and so on.

Found it pretty useful, they have also included a price range as well

Yeah, I remember coming across an advertisement sometime back, but I purchased a plastic container for a friend of mine a couple of weeks back and they appear to be good. These are used for carrying chemical and are very cheap too. Additionally are available in variety of different capacities
20L/30L/35L and higher too.

Strength wise I put them on the ground and stood on them and they didn't budge. So I feel that they should be good and long lasting too.
Looks wise I agree that Military Jerry Cans are much better but unless we get good condition ones, why to spend money on old ones.

Take a look
The on in the picture is a 35 Liter one
