Default Places to buy stuff for Off-Roading/4x4 in India

Given the increased interest in OTR/Off-Roading and 4x4 vehicles, it would be great if we have a compilation of places 'in India' from where one can buy stuff for off-roading/4x4.

Question: Should we add/avoid places for tinkering/painting/engine overhaul garages. I think enough information is available on those in other threads.

Here is my contribution:

1.) City: Bangalore
Shop/Place: 4x4 Offroad (is part of Adventure Zone)
Location: #64,Railway Parallel Road, Kumara Park West, Bangalore, Pin-560 020
Website: http://www.4x4offroad.in
Stuff you get there:
  • ARB Air Lockers
  • Old Man EMU Shocks/Leaf Springs
  • WARN Winches (various capacity)
  • Hi-Lift Jacks and accessories for the same (website)
  • Camping Tent/Sleeping Bag
  • Off-Road Lights (WARN Fog/Driving Lights)
  • Snorkels
  • Manual Free Wheeling Hubs (and automatic free wheeling hubs also)
2.) City: Bangalore
Shop/Place: Stellas Intertraders
Location:
2/13, M M Lane, S J P Road Cross,
City Bangalore Pincode 560002
Phone No 080 - 22224781/41140433
Stuff you get there:
  • Nylon tow ropes of various sizes & load capacity
  • Other hardware items like D-Shackles & D-Rings etc. (depends on availability)
3.) City: Bangalore
Shop/Place: Gujiri (opposite Russel Market)
Stuff you can get there:
  • Old/Used parts
  • Jerry Cans for your 4x4's
  • Any other thing for your 4x4 depending on your luck
Please keep adding to this like OTR Tyres, Wheels, Rims, Axles etc.

GTO, that's the same place I mentioned as #1 above -- 'Adventure Zone'. They really have good stuff, albeit on the pricier side.

What a predicament! When I used to live in Bangalore, I couldn't get my hands on the stuff. Now that I'm in Delhi and want such stuff (winch and tow rope for instance), I don't know where to get it.

It might be quite a pain transporting heavy stuff from Bangalore, unless I drive down again (haven't done that for close to 10 years now).

In Delhi, I've checked out most of the accessories places, but most of the guys stock "cosmetic" stuff only. Winches, locking differentials - haven't come across any.

Thanks Khan, for starting this thread. Hope to see a lot of useful info here.

Cheers,

Stuff that they deal with:
  • ARB Air Lockers
  • Old Man EMU Shocks/Leaf Springs
  • WARN Winches
  • Hi-Lift Jacks
  • Polaris ATVs and accessories for the same
  • Offroading Helmets, Goggles, Gloves etc

Roshun,

Call up Ozone and ask them. They for sure would be able to help you out with transportation. Just the transportation should not be an issue.

The shop numbers are: 080-41231007

Contact person: Mr Narayan (For off-road equipment)

He has some good WARN winches on which he is willing to give some handsome discounts. 20K discount on a winch costing 1.06L.

Skid plates, sump guards, fuel tank guard, diff guard, etc would need to be custom fabricated and then installed.

You would need to get hold of a good tinkerer/mechanic and also some hardware guy to get the metal/aluminum sheets & bolts etc for fabrication

For a sample see this post from Samurai.

I went to Lamda Components today to purchase a pair of free wheeling hubs for my jeep since they were not in stock anywhere in the city. The price difference was almost over 1000 rs per pair.

One good news is that Mr Arun of Lamda told me that they had started manufacturing 5 ton capacity hydraulic winches priced at around 45000 rs. They are also coming out with electric winches at around 5-10k extra but Mr Arun was not in a position to commit a fixed price for the same.I guess those looking out for electric winches could wait some more time till lamda come out with their own.Iam assuming saving would be atleast 25-30k compared to the imported ones being sold at 1lakh.

Now that you are scheduled to go to B'lore you can have your heart's fill. Lemme know too what all are available - I would be inetersted in a winch, tow rope and a snorkel.

Thanks Khan,
I will be in Bangalore - end October / early November for a family wedding. Will check it out then.

Lamda also starting winches? I'll ask around. If I'm not mistaken (or maybe I am - darn grey cells), I think I know someone there.

GD - if you are game, we can do a bulk order (two for the price of one - no harm in dreaming, hehe).
