docfreak, sometime back I had given Jaggu a list of Shock Absorber options. Here is the link -

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-ve...ml#post2221669 (Got Jeep! CJ3B Hurricane.)

It is the 9th one on the list.

When you rev the engine, what happens to the bottom hose?
The pressure cap OK? Or are you running without one?

This is not right? Is it? Something amiss in your water circulation circuit, me feels. Have you tried with the cap off, does this happen then also?

You might want to read: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...blem-jeep.html if not already done so.

@ sutripta : i am running with a pressure cap, which fits snug and came with the radiator. The radiator itself is less than 6 months old. The bottom hose remains okay.

This issue is irking me and now the carb also is playing up, leaking fuel from the butterfly....At times i get so frustrated. Why cant the whole thing just work without a niggle for say 6 months at a go.

This is perplexing. I'd say your pressure cap is not working properly. Or your overflow tank (if you have one) is sealed tight.
Does the hose 'un'collapse itself if the pressure cap is removed. (Be very careful when doing it on a hot engine)

If the throttle spindle bore is worn out, it leaks air. Making it impossible to set proper idle. There used to be old time 'experts' who would remachine the carb. Wasn't necessary. All you needed was a new throttle spindle and two sealing washers.

If fuel is leaking out, it means fuel is being dumped on top of a closed throttle. Investigate from where. High chances it is from the bottom of the main fuel post. (The brass post into which you drop the emulsion tube, and screw in the air correction jet.) Which means somebody sometime had removed it. Is yours a proper M34 or a M32 converted to Jeep use?

It did. When new.
It's an (old) Jeep thing.

my overflow tank is perhaps sealed tight, as it never worked after installation. as in the radiator doesnt suck out and coolant from it even when empty, my mech says its due to absence of a thermostat.
The carb is a M34(jeep intended)
i didnt get what u explained about the spindle.
can u pls pm me ur number. i will surely disturb u.
thanks

There will be an opening at the overflow tank cap, see if its open. It should be.

Carb leak- Are you running electric pump, then connect a return line. With mechanical pump also a return line will help avoid leaks and give you slightly better FE.

^^^
A return line essentially helps against vapour lock. Running two pumps in series, and then bleeding back pressure does not make sense to me. Though I know that is what is done!

The original Jeep Solex float vent was in the air horn. So if it overflows massively (float needle has lost control), you are right, fuel will be dumped on the throttle. But well before this happens, the vehicle runs like a pig. Or doesn't run at all.

In fact, inability to maintain float level (and its attendant problems) used to be one of the shortcomings of the Solex when used in extreme conditions on the Jeep. Not a problem in ordinary use.
