Personally to me if there is no 4x4 in the Jeep, then you are taking the Jeep out of it. But that is just me. However, as it being restored at Bharat Reddy's place, I have faith that it might not be stripped of its 4x4 hopefully. It just kills me when there is no more 4x4.

I have made a couple of trips to Bharat Reddy's garage but could not meet him as he was out on all the occasions. Lets see when it is that I am destined to meet him. :-)
teja484 - agreed to your point that if there is no 4x4 the jeep identity is lost however this is for a not all JEEP enthusiasts. I own a 4x4 Willys and use it in Hyderabad city trust me since it is restored 2 yrs ago I might have used 4x4 option once or twice, as I don't take my JEEP for off road activities as I am scared that it would spoil the paint or might have to end up at a garage, by this I don't mean people who do aren't right, this is my opinion.

We cannot grade a JEEP not a true machine just because it doesn't have the 4x4 option, a jeep used for long drives, city use does not require 4x4 option as most of the cities have good or reasonable roads this is only for off road purposes, so both 4x4 and without are still fun to drive and can get the same amount of thrill. Toyota/Isuzu engines are real fun when used for long drives, city drives as they are good in terms of consumption, they are silent and easy to maintain also, hence a JEEP is a JEEP in any form, it's upon the enthusiast and the use which makes it fall under either 4x4 or 4x2 slot

Its a 4x4, it has an isuzu 4wd gearbox . All our Jeeps are 4x4 .

Actually the CJ6s available in India come in 2wd in their original form . May be they are the DJ6s.

You will see this Jeep in the Bnagalore offroad event 2012

Sammy it is possible . I can only give you details of whats been done and cant speculate .
We have used the bolero turbocharger .
No kits are available .

It will cost around 30K for the turbo setup (intercooler, turbo, plumbing, manifold etc)

The Jeep with the XD3p turbo has done many long distance OTRs (AKC/EXAMM twice and aavalakonda once ) and a lot of local trips and OTRs . Its been run around 15000kms so far with no issues.
Now it also depends on who is doing it , so i cannot recommend you to go ahead, ITS YOUR OWN RISK.

Dont bother with turbo , find a Isuzu G1 and that will solve all the problems.

Thanx a ton for the clarification.I would rather wait for the RD to arrive than getting stuck with which is not a viable option.

The M170 posted here earlier get a new set of tyres and rims for regular use .

Out goes the Ndms and comes the 31" M/T s with black steel wheels.

The carb is changed from solex to carter and the Jeep flies, solex made the Jeep a duck .

I personally dont like the new set of wheels , still the old setup looks better.

Chanu, I dont know what caused you to quote me but I can tell you it is my personal opinion that I have expressed here as is evident from what i said earlier "Personally to me if there is no 4x4 in the Jeep, then you are taking the Jeep out of it. But that is just me." Please be advised that I am not being condescending about the 4X2 jeeps.

Cheers!

Shubhendra, dont make it a short wheel base, Bhopal body work is sad .

I will take pics of the leafs and post later . The Kaisers come with grooved leafsprings .
AFAIK , the pakistani (M38A1) have thicker leafs than the regular Cj kaisers , 11 in the front and 13 in the rear .

The 4wd CJ5/6 S have 10 leafs in the front and 11 in the rear .
The 2wd DJ6 s have 5 in the front and 7 in the rear .

This is a Willys kaiser cj6
Converted to 91: wheel base
Isuzu G1 + isuzu 5 speed 4wd tranny .

I know Sandeep bhai, even i am not too much in favor of conversion. Lets see.
I loved this color, i had this color in non metallic shade on my GPW for 3 years. i might go for this color. Please do share pics of leaf springs, someone known have few sets of leaf springs which he claims to be off cj6. Will help me in cross checking.

The chrome rims looks too bling for this nissan. What would be a better finish? Matt black or white?
