Nice to see the 1.8 ISZ back in discussion and congrats on the acquisition.

It has to be an MPFI in all probability.

Kandisa, Beboy

MPFI it is...

Bharani - am happy you heard my rant and approached the owner - as I said Jeeps are like girls. Approach them or their dad (owner) the right way, either one would fall for you :0)

Wamdernomad - Lol, no Mla Mp stuff!! We just messed up his psychology and played with his ith and ego just planted a seed and until the minute owner met Bharani he was never in a need to part ways with his car...

Have done about 300 km on the isuzu and not to sound too cliche or anything but just doesnt feel jeep like - in a good way. There are no rattles, the body line is perfect for a 10 year old jeep, all instruments spot on and the canopy not having a single leak even after being parked in the rain for the night. The gearbox has immense drivability with the vehicle going into overdrive around 40/50 and can comfortably cruise all day with excellent low end torque. The only sound that comes with the Jeep is the mild flapping sound of the canopy from the front at speeds above 60.

What i need to address - Tyres, shock absorbers .
The downside - The canopy material is not so good in insulating heat. The petrol tank motor is quite noisy and is located outside the tank. I dont know if there is something wrong or it is noisy. Will have to get that checked. Finally, FE is around 8/9 ish in spite of a very light foot and a serious hole in the pocket.

Regards
Barani

This reminded me of a fellow jeeper's (he had an original 3B) similar comment, when he drove my jeep for the first time. He told it was too much car type! I didn't (and still don't) have any complaint though

You can't get anything better than that in all probability. This figure is optimum.

Moylaali, all you need now is a free flow exhaust and a bit of fooling around with the map.

A Jeep with decades old petrol engine is an entirely different ball game than the usual diesel Jeeps. Very unlike how the vehicle sounds, you will be surprised by engine.

The MM ISZ sounds like a whole lot of fun to drive.

What about converting regular MMs to the ISZ? Considering the fact that the 1.8 litre petrol is still abundantly available in Mayapuri (Delhi's scrapyard)

Sorry, noob question. What is NGCS?

NGCS : New Generation Chassis and Suspension, conversion to petrol is possible, will have issues in updating the RC

Thanks!

Not really interested personally, I was just floating the idea.
I only have a casual interest in off-road vehicles.

I'll probably be looking up the differences between NGCS and the older versions.

Maybe my passing interest won't remain so! :-p
