How about chocolate brown? Used to come on some recent version of Verna, a lighter shade of brown was also there on Maruti Omni high roof during early 90s.

Andy

EDIT: BHPian, Frankensteins' CJ3B is painted in brown and looks magnicifient,
alternatively you could go for a matt finish of the same color? Remember bournvita?

Andy Ji,
Above mentioned color is finalized for another 3B which i am working here in Poona. Color shade is closer to what is there on Sandeep's 3B.
As nothing is progressing on this Jeep's front due to my mech's illness, I am concentrating on another 3B. But 99% we will go for civilian color from Willys color shade book.

Hi Roshan,
Thanks for link, FYI its been shared by a fellow t-bhpian few pages back. Grey color looks good in picture but in real its very dull.

Shubs,

In the early 80's, the iron folding chair (seating and back rest area), used to come in a particular green and blue color wherein silver or some other compound was mixed in it to give a literally sparkling output. I am informed, that it is called 'fish'scale' finish or something like that. Although seen this finishing on engine side cover of a lambretta, but never on a 4 wheeler. Maybe old timers (Sudershan ji ? ) can throw some light on this.

Now i will have to hunt for those chairs in scrap yard. These chairs got replaced by plastic chairs more than 2 decades back.

My reference to Sudershan ji is out of repect for his experience in many aspects including DIY of which I am a fan of. Not of towards his age.

Shubhendra SIR and Andy BETA

I think you are referring to hammertone paint. Also used in Godrej steel cupboards. There are references floating around to that on the forum.

These days it is mostly used for vehicle interiors

Another thing close to hammer tone is what I have on my Jeep. Its basically metallic pieces that are mixed with the base shade to give a metallic powdery finish. It doesn't come out rough like the Godrej cupboards. The paint guy experimented with varying sizes of powder before I chose the shade. This will look good in the Coral Rust too. Give it a shot with a 100 ml box first

Cheers,
Adi

this is terrible .

OK back to topic.

# Member Jeepster has experimented on this Hammertone a lot recently. He has got a new compressor & maybe painting the house itself in hammertone by now , he is such a fan.

Will disturb you soon SIR.
