Congrats 4x4 addict! That's one fantastic car at that price (I am guessing you got it below 15L). What was the Odo reading at the time of purchase? You seriously need to upgrade those tyres immediately to enjoy this beast fully. And do post post some detailed interior photos.

Drive safe and enjoy...

Yokohama Geolander - Not worth it really. If a princely some of Rs. 13,500 each has to be paid for a Landcruiser tyre then for this size 275/70/R16 the best bet is Dunlop Grandtrek TG 28 ( Made in Japan ) tread, not made in USA.

Alternately Michelin LTX is another fine tyre, followed by Bridgestone Dueler AT 693 type 1 or try my development if available tyres Toyo - Open COuntry OP/DH if not even Bridgestone H/T is better.

Pirelli Scrorpion or BF Goodrich AT treads are OK.

Why pay 13,500 for a bad tyre ?

In the UAE they had a poor track record, In india it has performed poorly.

Is this only the reason you have put this up for sale? Wont it break your heart?

It does break your heart. The reason I did not bring it to India was.

High fuel consumption - 5.5 KM / Litre on good 98 Octanne. In India who can run an Elephant like this where Petrol is Rs. 70/litre in Dubai it was Rs. 18 / litre and company paid.

Left hand drive - It is difficult to manage a RHD car in India with jaywalkers, tonga, donkeys, cattle, thela, autoricshaw and motorcycles milling all around, imagine an LHD ? What a blind disaster.

Import - Till the day I landed and even today even upon enquiries made to custom department comissioners there is absolute uncertainity and no clear knowledge on TR rules, how much duty will I end up paying or will it come duty exempt I had owned it for six years. Nor do I know these rules today for that matter, shortly my Father In Law's TR is coming up and I may get a RHD Diesel from there.

The TR rules are very clear..
NRI has to have lived 730 days out of the last 1096.
Vehicle being imported has to be in possession for at least a year before import.
Vehicle has to have its own Bill of lading
Importer needs to obtain an approval prior to shipping else fine penalty will apply
Vehicle has to be RHD
Duty is 149% of depreciated value.

RTO fees (Toad tax, Entry Fees, Octroi) extra.

Approval from Whom prior to shipping ?

RHD is fine.

So for a 2009 model Landcruiser RHD purchased for Dhs. 75,000 in 2012 duty will be Dhs. 111, 750

Total landed cost with shipping Dhs. 75,000 + 112,000 + 11,000 = Dhs. 198,000 = Rs. 2,91,000 odd or 30 Lacks.

Is it worth it.

Not worth it!

Buy an ex-embassy 4WD (Toyota LC) from New Delhi. Try to find a Diesel Toyota RHD.

Congrats on the buy 4x4addict!! This is indeed an excellent vehicle - I have always been a fan of the 100/101 Landcruiser / LX470. Its the perfect luxury SUV.

What is that huge thing in the boot? Is it a luggage compartment or a refrigerator?

Thanks.

The large box is actually a Gas Stove on the driver side. The other side has the enclosure for tools, jack, & sub woofers. I am planning to replace with third row seats as the stove doesn't work.

This is my favourite land cruiser. I remember whenever me, dad and bro went for soft off roading in our Rav4. I used to admire every other 100series landcruiser dune bashing in deep sands. When visited Dubai I just loved the beast and its capabilities during the desert safari. Congrats on such a great machine!

Hey is the Land Cruiser still with you?

Recently came across a Land Cruiser 100series for sale. Loved it inspite of the work pending on it like the ABS light on,air suspension, broken power seat adjust, broken power window etc.

Mine is sold. If you have a contact in Dubai, spares are cheaper than even Mahindra or Tata. However you need a good mechanic with some experience with Toyota's. Some of the Toyota dealers like Nandhi Toyota in Bangalore services imported Toyota's. However, since your ABS etc needs service, I would plan between 1 to 2 L to get that particular peice in good shape.

I dropped the plan since dad gave a no go. Sad to see that you sold the Land Cruiser.
It would be great if you could answer my doubts.
1.Any particular reason other than huge size?
2.Also suppose I had bought that Landcruiser and invested around 4 lakhs on it would it keep giving trouble ,I know it depends on the previous owner but any thing like stay away from 14 year old LC100?
3.How difficult or easy is it to stay with a Land Cruiser that is already 13 year old for a college going boy like me?
4.Finally what's the mileage you got some scared me telling I should praise The Lord if I get 4 kmpl and did yours have a secondary fuel tank?
Sorry for these many questions but I need to know which one is a better proposition a new Fortuner or a pre owned LC101.
Thanks in advance.
