Hey All!!!

At last my dream of becoming a jeeper has come true. I have recently procured a 1995 MM 540 DP Hard Top 4X4. Brought it to Pune this Saturday from Satara. So the first test was a good 100km where the jeep comfortably cruised at 70-80 kmph. A major share of the credit of me becoming a jeeper goes to this wonderful site where I received a lot of information, and I would specifically like to mention the encouragement I received from Sabareesh. Thank you for that.
Find attached the photo of the jeep in the Govt. shed after I won the auction. More photos to follow. Now awaiting the arrival of my Contessa, which is getting her final touches after the grpoundup restoration.

With Best Regards,
Abhijeet

Hi Fazal,
It was a proper CJ-340 when I bought it.
The details of my restoration are on http://www.militaryjeep.cjb.net

Oh boy, now I realize who you are... We spoke about 3 years back in regards to your Jeep. I was looking for an offroading Jeep, but you had modified your Jeep for WW-II looks, and fuel tank moved to rear, missing rollcage, etc. So I moved on and finally got a CJ340 customised for offroad purpose.

My Jeep thread can be found by clicking on the first link after googling for CJ340.

@Bopanna- your restoration is definitely one of the most beautifully written, precise and emotional blog about a jeep. I can now understand your anguish. Hope you get a great jeep soon.

Bopanna,
No wonder you feel the way you do about your Jeep. You, not only gave her a blog but an identity and shared a special bond with her. Get yourself one more in time and don't sell it.

Thanks, man!
Regarding another Jeep, I've convinced my Dad to part with his Estate Jeep (a 1995 model MM-540 4WD).
I had last done it up in 2005 and have now decided to go the whole hog!
Only problem is I cannot decide whether to do it up like an american Military CJ-5/7 (no doors, B-pillar) or the Indian Military MM-550.

Any suggestions?

(Sorry, pictures were taken in too bright a light!!)

Bopanna, You've already done a military inspired restoration. Why dont you try something different this time? A little sporty/humvee style perhaps? Beefy look? A nice bright color?

Posting a few pics on constant persuasion by one of my old pal (JeeperbyHeart) who has been an inacative participant on the forum for long and is still awaiting to get through the membership. A Rajput by birth , Jeeps and Gypsies have been in his blood , and still pumps in his heart Hope he gets a membership soon .

As has been the beauty of this forum , the petrol / diesel heads just follow it irrespective of the fact when they get the membership .

I am just fulfilling his ardent desire to let his jeep pics on the auto worshipped forum

NOTE : Mods , pardon my ignorrance ,hope this does not violate poilicies.

There you go " The OPTIMUS " as he calls it .

Loved the pics of the Jeep, no exaggeration but really has that 'jeep' factor in it. What rims are those? Tyres seem to be 7.5X16 sandgrip?

Not really. Jeep started out in 1941, and is the oldest off-road marque. Land Rover started in 1948.
