Yeah, but the mahindra make was just a single model of the International harvester, there are a lot more that never made it to india.

i spend an hour and a half trying to figure it out. all the aluminium plaque is there but all are washed out. Not a single mark on engine. As engine has its tappet cover missing.

It might have the gauges, the speedo and stuff. If its there, you can probably find out if its an american or a russian part, i mean, if it hasnt been changed over the yrs. And if it had gone kaput, even then it, most likely has'nt ever been changed, since firstly nobody(read we Indians) ever bother with something as useless as a speedo gauge in a tractor, that too in a vehicle thats most likely a "sarkari" one. Then there are a couple of levers next to the seat for the rear lift and the pto, also the gearstick and the high/low lever, and the diff-lock lever, which might lead you somewhere. The fuel injection pump, if lucas, most likely would direct you to a british design. The radiator(make), and the headlight would do the same too. The oilstick too might have either english or russian scribbled on it(or for that matter, any other language). Then probably the most important clue is the front differential. It is highly unlikely that it would'nt have anything on it with regards its make, since they are almost always outsourced by the parent company. And being a tractor in the catagory of light to Middleweight application, the demand for 4 wheel drives in this catagory is rather low, so tractors using this same axle would be far in between.

Mahindra made two IH models in India - the 35 HP, red coloured model whose engine was later used on the CJ Jeep. It was often called the LAAL INTER.

There was another more powerful model with 45 HP engine (IIRC). It looked more modern due to its streamlined body and attractive cream & yellow colour scheme.

Thanks for correcting, it was wheat time and still thay got stuck, Chonna would be worse. Another mistake was that it was the 65' war, not the 71' when the pattonnagar was created . Heres an interesting picture history and the patton story.

Mahindra made several models, but not during the 60-80's frame. Still, it was always just a single International Harvestor model(it was a B4??) they made here, infact that too had been changed a little here and there to make it an indigenous B275 i think.. The rest were all mahindra knock-offs, and there too the differences were small. The main was the motor, which is basically the same block and the displacement was increased or decreased by adding a cylinder to the same engine design, such that 45% engine components are the same.

Even i thought they were portal, but later i figured out that this one has to driven by engine-powered hydrallic pumps. That is way too much hight for a portal box to be dropped way below the axle center line,without adequate re-enforcements to the axle knuckles. Even the volvo c303 portals, where the axles drop just 4.5 inches, has the top and the lower kingpins bearing spaced by 9" inches, and it normally does'nt do well for tires greater than 37". That tractor is taller than torque( so what is it, atleast 75" tall?), and the portal has virtually no support to them at the knuckles. Even the axle center line is above the rim circumference line.
Besides, the picture does not show any drive shafts, the wheels have what look like hydrallic lines running to them, and the massive engine has small tanks at the back(besides the big one) that resembles a hydrallic fluid tank used for hydrallic-mechanics.
