Mirage seats cost me 7K after exchange of my old seat which was not sliding/Reclining. These old seats were valued 1k.

Here Recaro lookalikes doesn’t come so cheap, they cost around 12k for low quality and 14k for a slightly better quality ones. They look good but not very comfortable.

Mitsubishi mirage is a two door car hence the left seat has 3 knobs.
1. Recline
2. Slide
3. Recline + slide

The third knob is used for rear seat access.

Driver side seat includes Height Adjustment too.

I am not sure if these features are available in Indian Lancer's.

Saturday I towed (using Ambassador) my gypsy to the Garage and by evening I got to know that, this will be the first bore ie .10 Over size.
I was pretty surprised, I thought this will be second or final bore looking at the age of the vehicle.

Joshguy/Happywheels: Oil level was low. I don’t know why I ignored the warning. .
Anyways this was an eye opener. From now onwards I will be careful.

.

The old Mirage were 2 door, the fifth generation onwards they started having 4 doors and the indian lancer is more closly related to a mirage (97-2002) than the JDM lancer. Any way this is OT. Recaro/sparco look alikes are very cheap in Delhi as far as i can remember the lowest quote i got was 8k and that too 1 year ago(taiwan make). Every body has a "uncle in gelf", you can get this as low as 2k per seat in saudi, another bhpian yogi might be importing one. Recaros are indeed comfortable, they have good back and lumber support, not sure of the ones available here though. Since you are reboring get the water jacket also checked, you might endup wasting money if it has a crack.

Pramod
Look-a-likes are just for looks. They got very bad ergonomics.
Better to have recaro/ sparco original

Cheers

Yeah the original Recaros (& APCs too) are really comfortable but NOT the replicas or the look alikes! They are just for sheer look and just pathetic from ergonomics point of view. Recaro replica in gypsy will be a perfect combination if someone is looking for a slip disk or similar syndromes....!!! IMHO its better to go for a pair of 2nd hand good comfortable bucket seat (easily available within 7-8k) rather than spending 16 k on a pair of those replicas.

very true.

Krishna, i think you should make a trip up north to mayapuri, the 1.3 carb engines from the army gypsis are sold 6-7k a piece+ a king gearbox should really transform your gypsy. Your current engine + GB can easily be sold later to someone locally.

Pramod
Taking off from office, Going to mayapuri, Hunting for good engine (with my limited knowledge on Engine's) getting the engine checked by some Mech. Getting the engine to Bangalore. Instead of all these, I choose to find someone here in south, who can guarantee the spares even though the price is at a higher side.

So I enquired in blore/Mysore the cost of king Engine (Carb) + 5 speed Gb + king Transfer case = 45K.

Now add fitting charge + Bigger radiator + over hauling the engine.

I guess the cost will easily go up till 55K.

keeping all this in mind I choose to Rebore my existing Engine and use it for 1 or 2 years and later decide. May be by then MPFI engine will be easily available.

As of now the Engine work is complete, I told the mech to change the Clutch plate, Spark plug, Fan belt Etc. It should be read for test ride in another 2-3 hours. This is the first bore done on this Engine ( .1 size)

I will go and get her back to Blore tomorrow.
This weekend i will be in Garage, fixing Custom Offroad Bumper and Transfer case guard.
Looking forward to see her in New Avatar. Pics will follow soon.

Regards,
Krishna Thanthri
