If you change the fly wheel , dose it not effect the torque characteristics of the engine. It will increase the angular acceleration but reducing the torque. Or is the weight of 1.3 fly wheel same as that of 1.6?

Regards
MP
the 1.6 flywheel does not fit in the bell housing of the gypsy king
so no other option

When are you posting more pics Allan, especially of the interiors.

Lot of us lesser mortals eagerly await the pics.

P.S. - tried to send a PM but it seems you have exceeded your mailbox quota.

Cheers,
Raj

Default Baleno powered Gypsy-Review and Technicalities

i thought it was a days work to fit the baleno engine into the gypsy,
boy was I wrong
but finally its over, the car is up and running
LOTS OF SMALL NAGGING ISUES STILL
This thread shall give you a step by step analysis of the car, and also all the problems encountered along the way and how they were solved,

She is running a custom power steering setup, and an aircondition system to die for,
the car as i speak is getting a custom free flow setup, mainly for bottom end power,
the test is today evening,
Shall give the car to neville aka satans enemy to test it this evening,
he owns a mpfi gypsy and also a baleno, so who better to test her and brief me about the power,
Stock brakes are useless though, need to upgrade

Great, and I am keeping an eye on this thread. I specifically want your inputs/feedback on how the wheels hold at high speed and OTR. Don't forget that buddy. Lot of my plans rest on that :-)

This would be very interesting thread. I am planning similar setup on my jeep. Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

Few questions:
  1. Are you using a 5 speed gearbox of king or a 4 speed from regular gypsy, if 4 speed any specific reason besides availablity of 5 speed.
  2. Baleno engine with ECU or carb? If ECU have you mapped the ECU for gypsy/off-road specs?
  3. How about engine mounts, was it direct fit?
  4. Mating the engine and gearbox, you had to made a custom adapter plate or was it a direct fit?
Sorry for asking too many questions, i want to be sure before i take the plunge.

Thanks,

Fahad

You're not the only one buddy. I started a similar thread, wanting to know which one would be better, the 1.3 gypsy mpfi or the baleno engine and so far i've been advised against the 1.6.

Hoping that this thread would help clear my doubts

Alan - where art thou? waiting for the report buddy - how was the run?
