Great going Shibu!!! Was the entire rollcage fabricated at Performance Auto? If yes, why wasn't it painted???

Also how much did it cost?

were you struck by a lottery??? lol

dude few things,

are you going to increase the leaf springs?? i think for rally spec its some of 8 springs.
any under body protection will be added or no?
technically speaking the spare wheel should be inside not on the door.

A/c was there in the vehicle and hence overhauled. A/c can be disabled anytime right?

Devang, I am not struck by lottery but bitten by Jeep /Gypsy Bug for many years now.
Had Gypsies since 1994 and 4wd 540's since 1995.
I have been doing these mods restorations for many years. But only recently thought of posting them in t-bhp after getting inspired by posts from guys like harjeev, kandisa (Soumen), Randeep,Khan_Sultan (shahnavaz),trammway(Siva), ex670c(Arka) and ofcourse all the t-bhp mods and support guys like GTO, Samurai & many more 4x4 enthusiasts.

Coming back to your queries. This is the just the stage-1 of my rally preparation. So the time major time consuming jobs/mods like rollcage and cabin was done first. Rest of them will be done in stages. And yes the spare tyre will move inside the body tub.

Jop, Thanks bro. I know many people/newbies wants to prepare their Gypsies for Rallies or atleast build a decent metal cabin and rollcage and thats the main reason why I started this thread.

Racingmachine, thanks man.Yes I have some plans may be not as a driver for 2010 season. But I have plans for both Desert Storm and Raide as a co-driver or a marshal. But nothing confirmed.Keeping fingers crossed.

The difficult part in rallying is to get a rally vehicle. So I decided to be equippped so that I can decide and attend anytime.

JC:I've seen in many rally gypsy's that the roll cage is extended more than the drivers cabin. May I know why? Can't it be molded exactly to end behind the drives seat?

The problem is I don't the extended cabin. Only form the esthetic's.

I feel that the extended roll cage looks sporty

It's for the safety of driver and co-driver, and not about esthetics. The roll cages put in Indian Rally cars are of FIA standard. God knows how many lives these rolled metal sheets have saved in the past. The last i can remember is the latvala crash down the hill in WRC this season.

So like it or not, it's for your own safety.

Cheers.

Hi racingmachine sorry for my ignorance but how exactly does a roll cage help during a crash. Does it prevent the roof and sides from caving in ?
