What I meant in my post was higher the gear ratio, more is the available torque. Lets take an example of a normal gearbox which generally has the following gear ratio's
1st Gear- 4:1
2nd Gear - 3:1
3rd Gear - 2:1
4th Gear- 1.5:1
5th Gear - 1:1

As you can see (the above is for illustration only) the First having the higher gear ratio has the maximum amount of torque available. Similarly with the higher drive ratio you one will have higher torque availability in a similar speced engine.

May be Spoke can explain this better

@Behram Sir: Many thanks for the pictures. look forward to seeing them in the showroom soon.

Can you compare and shed some light on the torque and power band of a MM540XD and Thar? that would help.

Do I see Bridgestone Dueler H/T tyres on the Thar? In that case we can expect it to get stuck in sand very easily

Great pictures of Thar. But remember even Aishwariya Rai needs to dress up and do some make up to look ravishing . Pass these pictures of Jeeps in Hyderabad to your design/accessories department and have them create a full lineup of accessories that will make the Thar looks drop dead gorgeous like these CJ5's from Hyderabad dressed up as Wranglers

We seriously need to dispel with the "nightsuit" look of the utterly drab 540's.

Now we must focus on increasing the desirability quotient. The Thar must necessarily look a fun, trendy vehicle.

So far I follow you. But I am still waiting to see how MM540 has have more torque than Thar in any given gear.

To help achieve this objective M&M must offer

1. Range of trendy metallic finishes apart from solid colours

2. Choice of atleast three alloy wheel options

3. Roll cage

4. Jerry cans, winches, spot lamps, GPS, Stereo, aircon

5. Suggest you dump those dated rectangular side lamps for something smarter

6. Clear glass headlamps

7. Removeable hardtop

8. Stanley leather(imitation) seat cover set

BTW if none of the above is possible may I request you please study a army spec 550 and simply replicate all those small elements that make the 550 look so gorgeous. Even that will do !!

Front: Ratio= 4.3:1 Capacity: 1100 Kg
Rear: Ratio = 4.3:1 Capacity: 1700 Kg (SFRA)
OKBJ 57" Front Axle is rated around 1400kgs approx
FFRA 53" is 1800Kgs approx

The Old MM540DP/XD had a 2 piece SFRA 19 Spline.
The Newer vehicles are 1 piece SFRA 30 Spline.

The Axle Rating for a Standard Differential i.e Dana 44 or Ford 9 is determined by

I) Differential Strength
1) Dia of Crown Gear : Dia of Pinion Gear
2) Type of carrier Open (2 pinion) Closed (4 pinion)
3) Carrier & Pinion Bearings

II) Axle Strength
1) Length or Housing/Arms
2) Length of Axles
3) Diameter of Axles
4) Strength of UJ/CV Joints

Experts please add anything I have missed.

Regards,

Arka

Hello Sir,

Congratulations on creating your Dream Vehicle.

BTW, why is the front tipping down?

Give us a REAL JEEP, and we will make it a commercial success for you.

Regards,

Arka

PS - Please add the Insect Screen/Chaff Guard, makes the vehicle look much better.

Not on any given gear but specifically at 4L. I'm trying to dig out the data to prove my point but I may be wrong too.

P.S: The torque curve of a TDI / IDI engine is much more flatter and more widespread over the rev range vis-a-vis a CRDe engine which has a slightly peaky torque curve, slightly high up the rev range.

Fine, the TC ratio for MM540 is 2.46 and for Thar is 2.48. Small difference, but Thar scores here. Thar has 247Nm vs MM540's 117Nm. It will take some really crazy gear ratio to rob the torque advantage from Thar.

Please accept my best personal regards,

I want my Thar...i want my thar... who...wchich dealer for Delhi and NCR, is there a hard top option? I think success depends on the initial lot being bang on. Hell, I'll buy it anyway, just to whistle on my derive to work and overtake the pilgrims enroute.

Thank you so much and I wish you the greatest success ever.

But that 117nm starts at 1200~1500 RPM whereas the 247 NM is somewhere closer to 2200 RPM. So the engine may actually be producing about 120~130 NM at 1200 RPM (Can be verified if we get the whole torque curve of the NEF CRDe). There is no denying the fact that the NEF CRDe is much newer technology but at certain revvs, the advantage may be just miniscule. The above statements are based on my own driving experience of the NEF CRDe and TDI engine.

Thar: 247NM@1800-2000R.P.M (according to Mahindra Thar website)
MM540: 120Nm @ 2000 rpm (and not 117, my mistake)

Yes, torque curve would help settle the matter.

White looks good and the specs are right for as a trail tourer - will name it ETT - exotic trail tourer!

So when and how much [the factory model pictured] - is what needs to be posted soon.
