DwArF is back on Trepadors, bye bye NDMS! Believe me, it makes a hell lot of difference On or off the road, and really worth it! Weekend he needs a wash and some grease and then maybe shoot some pics also

Saw some leak at the top cover of the radiator when i took DwArF for a wash last week. Good excuse to do an overhaul of the radiator, flush and a refill with new coolant. He should be ready tomorrow.

Meanwhile i found an interesting schematic of CJ3B dimension. As per this the height at rear from chassis to ground should be 17 and front 18 and 1/4 ". DwArF is 21" at rear and 18 ish" at front. Is this the reason for the remaining drive train vibration?

Discussed with Gopal and we plan to bring him down to spec sometime soon.

Jaggu,

There are many Jeeps that are taller than stock, without vibrations.

The 3"-4" raise in your Jeep should not be the reason for those "Oh so beautiful vibes". I thought it was resolved after the PS replacement.

Check the drive line angle.

New rubber foundations (Engine, transfer case & GB) as, even if they are old they become hard and pass on the vibrations to the body.

Also the transfer case round rubber foundation, check if the center bolt through it goes in and out freely, that is a good standard for checking a properly aligned GB as per my humble experience.

Make a round of the chassis for cracks.

Though you may have carried out these checks earlier, do it again as a petrol 3B is free of any vibrations.

Thats an interesting dimension drawing.
Regards,

Fazal, it's Maxis Trepadors. 235/75/15 on Gypsy rims. Will tell Jaggu to post a proper shot. He's gone to collect his Jeep from the workshop.

Fazal saab i have sent you the PM. I love this tyre and recommend it anyday. Just the perfect fit for 3b's. Only sacrifice is the turning radius in stock axle, i guess you shouldn't have such issues since you have wider axles in your 3B?

Jaggu,
Checked your PM, thanks.
Yes my 340 has MM550, 51" axles...so the tyre-leaf spring kissing should not be possible.

Last one week i was not using DwArF partly due to work schedule, partly coz of a slow puncture of front LT tyre. So today i decided to get it sorted. Switch on EFP to prime, 2 dabs on the accelerator pedal. Half a crank of starter and DwArF wakes up. Am impressed by Gopal's tune up. Water dripping at tail pipe, signs of perfect air fuel mixture.

Drove him to local tyre shop and removed the tyre. When we did the bubble test, i was surprised to se air leaks out all around the rim. Removed the tyre and lol its sand from one of the offroad trips. This has been happening for last 6 months and nobody bothered. Anyway splitted the rim from tyre, a thorough clean up and lil scrapping of the surface and was installed back. No leak finally! Took him for a short spin around the neighborhood and came back with a grin Chics dig this one alright he he he

Hey Jaggu,
Honestly, everytime i read your thread, brings a smile. I can kinda map to that happiness of yours seeing Dwarfie in good health.
Feeling sad that you've to part with it. I wish you all the best.
Cheers,
Deepak

please give him to offroad enthusiast* only.

(*who knows the difference between cj3b & shorted 650 aka di classic , not the real classic)
