2005 - 5 Lacs

Though there might be few odd exceptions.

Come to my city INDORE, and i will find you plenty of SAFARI 2.2 DICOR 2007, 50-60K ODO being sold for 4-4.5L. and 2008's for 5-5.5L, I personally found one for me, it was 2007, 40K done for 4L but , somehow, i didnot dared to sell my TCIC Safari.

MODS: Sorry for offtopic, but , i found that the question was meant tobe answered.

Buy it only if (you score 3 out of below 5)
1. u like it a LOT (take a test ride and all)
2. you want your ride to be somewhat unique (not many out there in Delhi, but uniqueness comes as a double edged sword, the other side being paucity of spares)
3. you have time and money to look after the 12 year old.
(humans/IMPORTED vehicles both are headaches)
4. you are getting it for a really good price ( < 4 )
5. you are insanely rich
(which i dont think u are considering you asked for a CNG kit for x-trail)

BTW, have seen the vehicle many times outside the owners shop, not much of a looker. To be honest I was considering buying the very same vehicle as the owner had put it up for sale about 6-8 months ago(at the same asking price of 5.75). But decided against it after looking carefully at the vehicle from outside only. Never had a talk/word with the owner.

Dear Friends, Thanks a lot for all the replies and advices. Based on your advice, i have decided not to go for the car.

I am searching for a used Pajero or any other used 4x4 SUV with a budget of 5-6 lakhs, which i can use as my first car. Anything above this budget, i will have to go for an auto loan and at this point of time i want to keep my liabilities limited. It has been a while i am looking for such a car but in vain :(

Wanted to keep the Nissan Xtrail for sometime but could not afford the fuel costs with a 6 kmpl mileage.

My friend has got the same pajero. Exactly the same apart from the fact his pajero's model is 2000-2001 something. But its all round the same. Its good to drive. Very good in offroading. very hard to source the parts. Very expensive spare parts. He is till now sending his mechanic with 10000rs every month to delhi to source parts for his car. Loads of things got changed. One day we figured out the brakes not working. And then we couldnt get the drum for this particular model. Then he fixed pajero(original not SWB) drum onto his. The only thing i wish for sometime is i wish it could take 1-2 lakhs more to get everything fixed and then it will run like anything.
I mean to say its so peppy and compact and so good to have control that all you need is power and right kind of handling and stuff. And my friend was so crazy for this particular type of pajero. It took him an year searching for one and finding one. He paid 11 lakhs for that. And he wanted to pay more without any hassle neither he bargained. He was so happy with the fact that he is getting one.Now he is crazy of getting the top removed and install a partial softtop. And he has put me on the job to source the guy who can do that. And i am too lazy to start the thread on team-bhp.will Do real soon.

Did you say it was a 2500 cc? I seriously doubt its a 98. Firstly the 2500 cc pajeros were upgraded to the 2800cc version in around 1993. In 1995 the LWB shape was changed to the wide arch version. The SWB versions of the wide arch version came around a year or so later so thats still in 1996/7
this is all probability is a 1992-1994 version else it should have come with a 2800cc engine.

A 98 Pajero SWB should look like this.

The wide arch version had wider fenders, new headlights, grille, bumper, fog lights and sidesteps as part of the new design. Driver and front passenger SRS airbags came standard and there was a scoop on the bonnet. I cannot see any of these on this car. Leave it its way two expensive, probably the asking price can fetch two such cars, and maybe a Nano

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw the pics as wide fenders came in 1998 but Goggy it could be a very early 1998 if i am not wrong or she has been bumped up for grey import!

Not possible Nikhil. These kits didi not fit into the older gen Pajeros. The LWB 5 door wide arch version came out in 1995 in some countries and in 1996 in others. I had the first 1995 LWB wide arch Pajero in the country kitted with special RallyArt discs and interiors. Was a Japanese spec so it had everything one could ask for and more. The SWB came in a couple of years later. WHen i imported my Pajero in 1995, the SWB was still being produced in the last gen till a couple of years later.

Default Is this SWB Pajero worth buy?

Hi Guys,

I stumbled on this ad in our classifieds and looks tempting but before I go all guns for it, I wanted to check if this was indeed a worthy buy.

Been a huge fan of paj's and this one in particular, got my attention. My concern is spares and security(immobilizer). I have seen few ads in different used cars sites where they have listed engine immobilizer under security feature. Bit confused on that, did HM did provide an aftermarket or 3rd party immobilizer to paj's or is that just an eye wash attempt to get soemone to buy a paj?

This ad shows pajero with engine immobilize as part of the Safety & Security,
http://www.carwale.com/used/cars-in-...ajero-D483434/

This is what caught my attention on classifieds,
http://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy-...i/Pajero.html/

Looked at lot of Paj ads and all are above my budget and cant afford a paj at a double digit number for now.

Looking forward for your valuable insights on the same.

Stay away from this one. I have seen this one and it is in sorry state to put it mildly. That's a sad thing as this was a top spec variant.

This is a soft top converted to hard top and is very very badly kept.

Is the hard top from a Sumo ? the rear section shows some very familiar lines.

@Sajan, with that answer from Khan saab, I think we should get this thread closed. What say, folks ?

They didn't even bother to buff / polish it before taking the pics. That is telling in my opinion.

I heard endy is bit expensive to maintain like the Safari's. Please advice.

I believe this is the same car which was being peddled by a dealer from chennai. if so, stay away, as Khan sir has mentioned, its way too molested.

Actually finding a good SWB Paj has become a very hard task. There was a North KL reg one too which keeps popping up for sale. pretty well loaded(suspension adjust etc), but someone has painted the interiors in beige! Car seems decent at first sight, but is a mess underneath, and slower than a nano. Stay away from that one too.
