| Senior - BHPian | Note from Mod : The Thar's full test & review has been uploaded at this link (Mahindra Thar : Test Drive & Review). Thread closed. Please continue the discussion over on the review thread. Ok guys the official Thar CRDe 4x4 is here!! I was at the Hesarghatta Mahindra service station (BLR) to pick up my friends MM540, and the CRDe Thar was already there! Please excuse the pics, they are from my E5 and also the Thar itself was just unloaded from the truck and was covered with muck and dirt. The manager said its about 1-2 weeks from launch and this particular vehicle was for demo and was there for its PDI. The pics look extra bad on account of the dust and cam resolution, please bear. This is the 4x4 version with Air Conditioning and Power Steering, and of course IFS. I don't know what particular variant it was, as there were no alloys. The manager claimed the on-road price of this would be around 6.5L, but mind you he was not sure and let this not be a topic for viral speculation here. But this is the official launch vehicle and we'll just have to wait a few days for the actual pricing. It looks like a typical MM540, from the finish point of view. Ordinary door pads, ordinary bench seats in the back and ultra crappy looking dash. But I guess the goodies are all under the hood And of course, it needs to be tastefully customized. So the wait seems to be finally over and we can test drive this beast in a few days!!Mods please excuse for opening yet another thread for the Thar, but all others were closed. Also, this one is the real deal, and the launch is round the corner, so this can continue to be the official Thar CRDe thread. Last edited by GTO : 5th January 2011 at 17:41. | Team-BHP Support ![]() | NIP, great scoop and photographs! But are sure about the AC? I know it has the vents (bolero dash) and all, but is there a compressor? Can one of the M&M guys confirm? If it has AC, then it is a big surprise. BTW, alloys were supposedly standard, but here I see steel rims, not that it is a deal breaker. Santosh, the hubs were known to be auto locking, no surprise there. Last edited by Samurai : 10th December 2010 at 18:38. |

| Senior - BHPian | Great Scoop there NIP! So I guess the launch IS around the corner. BTW this variant is non A/C as the other On-Off switch is for the heater. Need to see what will M&M do factory ordered A/C. Cheers |

But the THAR that i saw had the blower and the A/C compressor, but no other fittings apart from that. Very confusing to understand the design of the Thar, A simple MM540 with the Scorpio chassis and CRDe engine. Very crudely built for enthusiasts only. And the pricing may fetch a brand new 2WD Scorpio. ![]() BTW confirm the costs please.. | |

| Senior - BHPian | Wait and watch. Dont want to jump into this prematurely to see an Nth thread closing down. M&M Bosses. Before releasing the price to the showrooms dont you think Tbhp deserves to be the first to know as we have waited longer than showrooms for this? Please Vinod sir, DB sir and Spike. Do the honors |

| Senior - BHPian | What this vehicle lacks in looks, more than compensates in terms of performance, undoubtedly! It is a non AC variant, but AC ready. Get yours fitted by the dealer after market. 6.5 Regards, Last edited by fazalaliadil : 10th December 2010 at 21:25. |
